TRUE COMMITMENT, TRUE REPRESENTATION

Ruth 1:8,10,16-17

But on the way, Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go back to your mothers’ homes. And may the Lord reward you for your kindness to your husbands and to me.

“No,” they said. “We want to go with you to your people.”

But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.

Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”

What a commitment, what a good representation.

Now let us look at this critically. Ruth and Orpah were from Moab a pagan nation, their association with Naomi was that they married her son's. Naomi came to Moab with her husband, Elimelech and her two sons.

Her sons died after her husband had died, there was no more marriage contract, so Ruth and Orpah were free. However, they preferred to stay with Naomi.

We can thus clearly see that Naomi had been a good mother in law. Not just that, but from Ruth's statement, Naomi had really represented God in a good way.

Ruth 1:16

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, [or] to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people [shall be] my people, and thy God my God:

What a testimony!

How many of us older believers today have the same testimony?

How well are we presenting Christ in our areas of influence?

Paul said by the Spirit:

2 Corinthians 5:19-21

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Are people coming back to God because of you?

What exactly is your role in the body of Christ, how relevant are You in God's business?

Let us also look at the daughter-in-laws, we see also a good commitment, they saw a good mother-in-law and they held on to her, they saw God in her life and they followed.

How many young women today go for good mentorship. How many of them appreciate the role of Godly elderly women in their lives, like a Godly mother-in-law which obviously Naomi was?

We are in the generation where people have itching ears. They hate to be corrected and instead take offence, thus they get worse day after day.

2 Timothy 4:3-4

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.

They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

We are very much in those days.

Marriages don't last as it should, homes are not that happy place where Godly principles are enforced and love rules.

Abominations are now accepted as the norm and legislated, imposing horrible and ungodly believes to people who submit!

It is a terrible dispensation!

Ruth and Naomi's story, teaches us about commitment and the importance of our faith in God.

Remember, your first commitment is to the Heavenly Father Himself, then to others.

Are you committed, are you a good representation of Christ?

Will people seek the Lord because of you or will people refuse Him because of you?

We need to be committed and be good examples.

We need to shun the corruption of the world.

O help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Holy Father help me to represent You well in all I do in this life. Lord  I need you. I am Yours and I will be a true representative. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.
