MAINTAIN A GODLY MARRIAGE

Judges 13:2-3,6,10

In those days a man named Manoah from the tribe of Dan lived in the town of Zorah. His wife was unable to become pregnant, and they had no children.

The angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife and said, “Even though you have been unable to have children, you will soon become pregnant and give birth to a son.

The woman ran and told her husband, “A man of God appeared to me! He looked like one of God’s angels, terrifying to see. I didn’t ask where he was from, and he didn’t tell me his name.

So she quickly ran and told her husband, “The man who appeared to me the other day is here again!”

We live in times when the institution of marriage is being destroyed from in and out of the church. Divorce rate is high and many are in a marriage but are not happy therein.

What is the problem?

God has been taken out of the equation.

How?

Jesus said:

Matthew 19:8

Jesus replied, “Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended.

God never intended that a marriage should end, No, it was supposed to be life long, however, the institution has been bastardized by both parties, foolish worldly ideas, entertainment media, ungodly philosophies and the powers of darkness has played a significant role in making this happen.

What is marriage? A union between a MAN and a WOMAN to become husband and wife. God's design was for the man to be the head and the woman the help meet.

Look at part of our scriptures for today:

Judges 13:2

In those days a man named Manoah from the tribe of Dan lived in the town of Zorah. His wife was unable to become pregnant, and they had no children.

Does this remind you of Abraham.

Genesis 15:1-2a

Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”

But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? 

Yet we see them live the true godly marriage. They never even thought of remarrying when polygamy reigned!

What do we have today? Things like feminism, women oppression, adultery and other perversions have taken over marriages, a strong force from the enemies that gullible and ignorant supposed believers have fallen into.

If you ask me concerning Manoah and his wife, I will say that the woman seemed much stronger in spirit, however her submission cannot be called to question.

Listen,

Judges 13:21-23

The angel did not appear again to Manoah and his wife. Manoah finally realized it was the angel of the Lord,

and he said to his wife, “We will certainly die, for we have seen God!”

But his wife said, “If the Lord were going to kill us, he wouldn’t have accepted our burnt offering and grain offering. He wouldn’t have appeared to us and told us this wonderful thing and done these miracles.”

Dear husbands and wives, what have you made your home to become? 

Can God use your home as a channel to do His wonderful works? 

Is your home filled with malice, hate, quarreling, unhealthy competition etc.

Have you given the enemy access to your home?

Do you have your altar always lit?

You have to make it work.

Remember that it is the enemy that comes in without an invite because he comes to steal, kill and destroy!

If you want the Lord in, you have to invite Him in.

MAINTAIN A GODLY marriage. This is the duty of both husband and wife.

Ephesians 5:22-28

For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.

As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her

to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.

He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.

In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.

Make your home the place where God is king, then He can make your home the channel through which He does His wonderful work.

Help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father help me to be a good spouse, knowing that You are the true king of my family. May I play my role well that I will have a peaceful and prosperous home. May my home be Your channel to do Your wondrous work. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.
