DO WE HAVE THE MORAL RIGHT?
Judges 20:26-27
Then all the Israelites went up to Bethel and wept in the presence of the Lord and fasted until evening. They also brought burnt offerings and peace offerings to the Lord.
The Israelites went up seeking direction from the Lord. (In those days the Ark of the Covenant of God was in Bethel,
We do not have to wait till the day of war to prepare for battle. The battle should meet us prepared.
Do we have the moral right to pass judgement on others, when we are also likewise guilty?
The children of Israel came up together as one against their brethren, Benjamin, where an abomination had been committed. The erring Benjamites defeated them on two occasions, causing the death of 22,000 Israelites and in the second instance another 18,000 Israelites.
Judges 20:21-25
But Benjamin’s warriors, who were defending the town, came out and killed 22,000 Israelites on the battlefield that day.
But the Israelites encouraged each other and took their positions again at the same place they had fought the previous day.
For they had gone up to Bethel and wept in the presence of the lord until evening. They had asked the lord, “Should we fight against our relatives from Benjamin again?”And the Lord had said, “Go out and fight against them.”
So the next day they went out again to fight against the men of Benjamin,
but the men of Benjamin killed another 18,000 Israelites, all of whom were experienced with the sword.
What a tragedy. We learn something here: " you cannot neglect the Lord your God all these years and when crises arises, you just walk up to Him to make demands!
Secondly, the maxim of clean hands says: "he who comes into equity must come with clean hands.” That is you cannot claim to be offended if you also are guilty of an offence (especially against that person).
The whole of Israel had abandoned the Lord, everyone did what was pleasing in their own eyes. Thus, who was then worthy to carry out judgment against another?
Don't we see this problem in our world today, don't we see it in the believers' families?
Parents no longer have the moral right to correct/discipline their children, because they themselves need to be corrected and disciplined.
Pastors/ministers cannot correct the people they minister/lead because they themselves are also guilty.
Leaders who are supposed to make, maintain and upload the law, have no moral right to do so for they themselves are also guilty of disobeying the law.
What a chaos!
Romans 2:1-3
You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things.
And we know that God, in his justice, will punish anyone who does such things.
Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God’s judgment when you do the same things?
We do not have to wait till things have gotten out of hand before we act. We must turn away from evil and complacency to become good examples to our children, family, peers, brethren and to the whole world.
We do the praying, fasting and dwelling in God's presence now. We make prayer a daily activity. How can we go on without the Heavenly Father leading us by His Spirit.
We must hold the moral right to correct our children and all those under our care or influence.
It is not late, the people of Israel got it right at the third attempt, let us make the amends now, let us begin to live for the Lord.
So help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Loving Father I seek You today and everyday, You dwell in me by Your Spirit, disconnect me Lord from the flesh and all it's vices, connect me fully to Your Spirit, I will be strong in and out and thus continually live the life You want me to. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
