VICTORY TO THE FAITHFUL
Joshua 15:13-15
The Lord commanded Joshua to assign some of Judah’s territory to Caleb son of Jephunneh. So Caleb was given the town of Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), which had been named after Anak’s ancestor.
Caleb drove out the three groups of Anakites—the descendants of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the sons of Anak.
From there he went to fight against the people living in the town of Debir (formerly called Kiriath-sepher).
I used to say that God is always faithful, it is we humans that fault in faithfulness.
Listen, even a prophet of the world testified concerning God:
Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
It has always been man that has messed things up.
Though the philosophers most times try to put the blame on God.
We understand that the power of choice yet resides with us, so we are accountable.
Caleb was all about dedication and faithfulness to God, so also was Joshua from the departure from Egypt till they eventually entered the promised land. Just two of them out of the whole number. They had a good testimony.
They were part of the two who went out to explore the lands, O what a very good report.
Numbers 13:3-4,6,8,16
So Moses did as the Lord commanded him. He sent out twelve men, all tribal leaders of Israel, from their camp in the wilderness of Paran.
These were the tribes and the names of their leaders: Tribe Leader Reuben Shammua son of Zaccur
Judah Caleb son of Jephunneh
Ephraim Hoshea son of Nun
These are the names of the men Moses sent out to explore the land. (Moses called Hoshea son of Nun by the name Joshua.)
Listen in every generation we have the faithful ones, they are always a small portion of the multitude.
Meditate on it -
Two(2) men out of 601, 730 men twenty year and above that left Egypt.
0.000332374985458%
What a negative ratio.
Try working out that of Noah and the population that lived at his time.
Then you can meditate on the 7,000 at the time of Elijah.
Etc.
It is always about a remainant!
May we be part of the chosen remainant.
So coming to Joshua and Caleb:
They had every right to enjoy the proceeds of all the good work. They could enjoy the promises.
Remember:
Numbers 32:10-12
Then the Lord was very angry with them, and he vowed,
‘Of all those I rescued from Egypt, no one who is twenty years old or older will ever see the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for they have not obeyed me wholeheartedly.
The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they have wholeheartedly followed the Lord.’
One thing I desire is what these ones received and all those who were faithful to the Lord. The personal testimony of God's commendation. There is nothing as fulfilling as that both now and in eternity.
Matthew 25:21,23
“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’
“The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’
Wow! ". . . let us celebrate together . . .", what a conclusion.
Stay faithful, there is a victory for the faithful.
Help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Loving Father keep me faithful to the very end, make my weakness become strength to glorify you in all things. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
