SETTLED

Joshua 19:49-51

After all the land was divided among the tribes, the Israelites gave a piece of land to Joshua as his allocation.
For the Lord had said he could have any town he wanted. He chose Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. He rebuilt the town and lived there.
These are the territories that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the tribal leaders allocated as grants of land to the tribes of Israel by casting sacred lots in the presence of the lord at the entrance of the Tabernacle at Shiloh. So the division of the land was completed.

Would we be in a state of agitation all our lives? Will we keep on fighting all our days here on earth? Surely there will be a time of rest, a SETTLED period when we get to rest from all our works and battles.

I do not know if these questions have gone through your mind? Your present age could be a contributing factor to the possibility of you thinking in this direction. They are actually valid and important questions.

As we learnt some days ago, there is always the time of allocation when the battle is over and it is time to enjoy the victories. Every soldier waits for this time.

For the believer, there is actually no retirement. However, there is a time of rest, when the believer having fought through the times becomes an elder. Receiving the duties of mentor and watcher for the younger ones.

Joshua had gone through the battles, he was not left out of the allocation so also was the high priest Eleazar.

However as we will see in subsequent chapters, they didn't go to sleep, but went on to lead the children of Israel. They were consulted in very important matters to avoid conflict.

What is your current position? What are you doing for the Lord? Are you deserving of rest when the time comes or have you wasted your youth?

Have you digressed from true ministry call, pursuing that which the Lord never sent you? Have you hidden your talent and gifts to enjoy the pleasures of the world?

Is your heavenly file empty?

Is it full of good records?

Revelation 20:12-13
I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.
The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.

The most important record of all, is the book of life, and the only qualification to enter that book is your salvation in Christ Jesus, Yeshua Hamaschiac. Without being born again, no hope there!

Revelation 20:14-15
Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death.
And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Acts 4:11-12
For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,
‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

Then Is the book of records, if you do not have good testimony do not expect a reward!

1 Corinthians 3:13-15
But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.
If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.
But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.

Are you doing a good work?

Have you been doing a good work?

Are you continuing in "good work"?

Remember the choice is always yours.

My caution over time has been:

"You have the liberty/choice to do whatever you please, however, understand that you have no power over the consequences"

The philosopher puts it this way:

Ecclesiastes 11:9, 12:13-14
Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.
That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.
God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.

So we work now that we will be settled at the right time. Settled in that we become mentors and leaders of those coming after us helping them to fulfill their God giving purpose and also settle.

In the end we come to a rest that is everlasting. Settled like one who has overcome all battles that could ever be.

We will finish with a good story. We will rejoice both here and in the time to come.

The Lord will settle us!

So help us Good Lord.

PRAYER
Help me to be faithful to You O Lord in all things. Then settle me O Lord, as I have been faithful to You. You are my everything for You are for me now and also for me forever beyond eternity. I can boldy say "all is well with me". Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
@the watcher.
