NOT ON MY WATCH

Joshua 24:31

The people of Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him—those who had personally experienced all that the Lord had done for Israel.

What a good testimony!

When they had finally settled in the land God gave them, Joshua took some drastic steps:

Joshua 24:1,13-15
Then Joshua summoned all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, including their elders, leaders, judges, and officers. So they came and presented themselves to God.
I gave you land you had not worked on, and I gave you towns you did not build—the towns where you are now living. I gave you vineyards and olive groves for food, though you did not plant them.
“So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord alone.
But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

The people had to take their stand, will they serve the Lord God or will they go for another.

The people replied:

Joshua 24:24
The people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God. We will obey him alone.”

Joshua then made the covenant and kept record of their agreement.

Joshua 24:26-28
Joshua recorded these things in the Book of God’s Instructions. As a reminder of their agreement, he took a huge stone and rolled it beneath the terebinth tree beside the Tabernacle of the Lord.
Joshua said to all the people, “This stone has heard everything the lord said to us. It will be a witness to testify against you if you go back on your word to God.”
Then Joshua sent all the people away to their own homelands.

He and the elders of his time guided the people through this period and thus we have the testimony that as long as Joshua lived the people served the Lord. Even when Joshua died the elders who he appointed ensured that the people served the Lord.

Can all our leaders today say the same?

What of the generation before the present one. The present generation is scary and more scary is the one to come!

What is happening on our watch?

Are people still serving the Lord, are they still faithful.

I am not talking of the "feel good" feeling they have after a program or prayer session, or jamboree of activities here and there.

What is their report in their places of work, schools, homes and the community at large. Is there a positive impact to the world around them, is there a good testimony or is it just a rush after money?

What has been the testimony under your watch!

Before you begin to castigate pastors, ministers, bishops, apostles, or what ever title anyone bears now:

What is happening at your watch as a parent in your home or even as a leader in whatever small or big position you occupy?

What is happening under your watch?

Then going deep down, what is happening in your life under your watch?

Galatians 6:4-5
Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.
For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

What is happening under your watch?

Can we learn from this testimony from the conclusion of the record of the book of Joshua? Can we begin to take responsibility?

We must say:

"not under my watch will my children go astray"

"not under my watch will my community or place of influence go astray"

"not under my watch will I be deceived by the enemy, the pleasures of the world or the influence of men"

What is your testimony?

What will be your testimony?

What is happening under your watch?

O help us Good Lord.

PRAYER
Dear Father strengthen me to watch carefully and guide my family and all that you have put under my influence to live in full faithfulness to You. Let me have a good testimony that wherever You lead me, I will represent You as I should. I will win, so help me Good Lord. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
@the watcher.
