INCOMPLETE VICTORY
Judges 1:27,29,31,33
The tribe of Manasseh failed to drive out the people living in Beth-shan, Taanach, Dor, Ibleam, Megiddo, and all their surrounding settlements, because the Canaanites were determined to stay in that region.
The tribe of Ephraim failed to drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer, so the Canaanites continued to live there among them.
The tribe of Asher failed to drive out the residents of Acco, Sidon, Ahlab, Aczib, Helbah, Aphik, and Rehob.
Likewise, the tribe of Naphtali failed to drive out the residents of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath. Instead, they moved in among the Canaanites, who controlled the land. Nevertheless, the people of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath were forced to work as slaves for the people of Naphtali.
There is nothing like a complete victory, half victories are dangerous in that you live to fight again.
I believe these cities would have been completely taken if they people had enough faith.
Recall this discussion with Joshua:
Joshua 17:16,18
The descendants of Joseph responded, “It’s true that the hill country is not large enough for us. But all the Canaanites in the lowlands have iron chariots, both those in Beth-shan and its surrounding settlements and those in the valley of Jezreel. They are too strong for us.”
The forests of the hill country will be yours as well. Clear as much of the land as you wish, and take possession of its farthest corners. And you will drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.”
You remain bound to the limit of your faith, truly for you cannot overcome what your mind has refused to accept as possible.
You are not the one to do it but the Lord, so why not trust Him on it. This is where they missed it and some today repeat the same mistake.
Not fully driving out the opposition makes them a threat to encounter in the future. This we will see as we study the book of the Judges.
This book of Judges has lots of stories recorded during the time after the death of Joshua and the faithful elders, it tells of the experiences and what became of the people of Israel before they had kings. We have a lot to learn from here.
So, believer what incomplete victory do you have in your life. It is time to arise and take full charge, clear everything that can arise to bring you down or away from the Lord.
Hebrews 12:15
Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
Most times we begin looking for the enemy from outside, NO, start from the inside:
Ephesians 4:31
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.
In all, put your trust completely in the Lord. Remember, He gives us the full victory.
Ephesians 3:20-21
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
PRAYER
Loving Father, give me full victory that nothing may arise again to trouble me. I put my trust fully in You Lord, I am a winner. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
