WHEN THE LORD LEADS YOU
Joshua 3:5,7,9,15-16
Then Joshua told the people, “Purify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.”
The Lord told Joshua, “Today I will begin to make you a great leader in the eyes of all the Israelites. They will know that I am with you, just as I was with Moses.
So Joshua told the Israelites, “Come and listen to what the Lord your God says.
It was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river’s edge,
the water above that point began backing up a great distance away at a town called Adam, which is near Zarethan. And the water below that point flowed on to the Dead Sea until the riverbed was dry. Then all the people crossed over near the town of Jericho.
One major reason why people can be atheist and others who believe can live complacent lives is because of how the Lord designed the earth and placed humans in it.
Remember that the Lord prepared the earth and blessed it causing it to be fruitful by default, that means all fruits trees etc all grew naturally even rain was not needed the waters came up from the group and watered the plant etc
Genesis 2:5-6
neither wild plants nor grains were growing on the earth. For the lord God had not yet sent rain to water the earth, and there were no people to cultivate the soil.
Instead, springs came up from the ground and watered all the land.
Man was placed in the earth to cultivate, not as tedious work but as God created (I believe it was by speaking to things) remember how Adam named the animals:
Genesis 2:19-20a
So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one.
He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals.
So by default everything was automated and man had the business to tend for it.
You will notice that God didn't bother man much, the Bible talked about His coming in the cool of the day to search out Adam, some scholars explain that definitely man was supposed to attend the meetings of realms but his position was vacant.
Listen:
Genesis 3:8-10
When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees.
Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”
Sin made man cut of from God's presence, he became ashamed of being in the Lord's presence, the holy body had become defiled!
After man was sent off the realm he was yet on earth but not in the space of glory and from then man kept on moving away from God.
So activities continued on earth and it seemed as if God was not in them. The truth is that God gave man the earth to take care of, He doesn't just barge into the affairs until we begin to derail or we call Him into the matter.
Remember when He saw that man was leaving the purpose of spreading through the earth to converge and build a tower to the heavens, He had to intervene to stop them.
When the watchers complained of the atrocities in Sodom and Gomorrah He had to intervene etc.
Yet a people elect their kings, be they democratic or autocratic. Except they are of special purpose to the Lord, He lets them be.
This is why many think "O there is no God", "O God is not in control of the affairs of men", "O God is not all powerful" etc.
It is an erroneous thinking:
Psalms 14:1
Only fools say in their hearts,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!
However, when one seeks the Lord, they find Him. God is not hiding away from us, it is actually man that hides away from God.
Romans 1:20
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
This is why God had to come, live among us, die for us and also resurrect and return again into Himself.
Now no one has an excuse not to seek Him.
Joshua stands as an example of those who sought after God in the times before the revelation of Christ. His life teaches us as believers today the need for discipline, faithfulness and obedience when we walk with God.
He led the people of Israel to cross the Jordan just as Moses led the people to cross the red sea.
Read the opening verses, God kept communication with Him, letting Him know what to do and Joshua ensured he carried it out as instructed.
Disobedience was what led to the fall in the beginning, obedience will keep you from falling.
We must let the Lord lead us.
Three elements which by now we know the Lord leads us, all of them is in the third one:
1. Study of the word of God
2. Praying and listening
3. By His Spirit
The third one encompasses all, for we study the word by the Spirit, we pray by the Spirit and even when we have dreams or visions they are all by the Spirit.
Even when we receive instructions or direction from man, it must be confirmed by the Spirit. Selah
Let the Lord lead you.
Psalms 37:23
The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
If you resist the Lord, He will let you be, however as I always say:
'You can do whatever pleases you, however you cannot determine or control the consequences!"
Let us let the Lord lead us, O what peace of mind and victory we will enjoy.
PRAYER
I submit to Your Kingship O Lord Jesus, keep leading me for in You I have sure victory. Help me to be patient and also to submit fully to your will. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
