READY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT

Deuteronomy 31:7-8

Then Moses called for Joshua, and as all Israel watched, he said to him, “Be strong and courageous! For you will lead these people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors he would give them. You are the one who will divide it among them as their grants of land.

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

How many of us are ready for the assignment?

Have we been preparing ourselves for it?

The wrong perspective of leadership has been what has made many fail. Leadership is a responsibility, and until it is seen as such, failure is eminent.

Many look at leadership as an opportunity to take advantage, oppress or a time to relax and enjoy while others do the work but this is never so.

This wrong perception by some has also eaten into the church.

I remember a female pastor some years back in a small assembly telling her congregation that she has served another and it was now time for her to enjoy the honour of her congregation (paraphrased) then she quoted the verse in scripture about the prophet's reward.

Matthew 10:41

If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs.

No, when you pick up the mantle of leadership the work just began!

Joshua was a man with a good testimony. He stayed through out at Moses' side, he was so faithful to God that only he and Caleb were the only two approved by God from their generation to enter the promised land.

How many of us are actually that faithful?

What was the word given to commission him during his inauguration?:

Deuteronomy 31:23

Then the Lord commissioned Joshua son of Nun with these words: “Be strong and courageous, for you must bring the people of Israel into the land I swore to give them. I will be with you.”

Look at that word: "I will be with you."

This is all the leader needs to go ahead, to succeed and to finish strong. The presence of the Lord.

Do you know brethren that every believer has the right to the presence of the Lord? For the presence of the Lord is revealed by His Holy Spirit in us.

Do you know that every believer has been called to leadership and that we all have our individual and collective assignments?

Do you know that as a parent, you are a leader?

Do you know that as a child you are also a leader?

Whether you lead in the secular world or in the church, you must be an example and show forth the praises of Him who has called you.

Brethren, you are a leader firstly to the Lord.

Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:23

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

This should be the mindset of all believers. Deviating from this is the reason why there is so much rot even when supposed believers abound in a place.

Leaders get so distracted with personal agenda and gain that they deviate from the assignment and begin to seek self glory, relevance or personal gain. That is failure indeed!

The way some leaders live today, this including pastors, bishops etc., whatever title they bear. It seems as if they do not expect the master's return, some have even made themselves to become the master! O what sorrow awaits this wicked ones!

Luke 12:42-46

And the Lord replied, “A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them.

If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward.

I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns.

But what if the servant thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk?

The master will return unannounced and unexpected, and he will cut the servant in pieces and banish him with the unfaithful.

Some have placed themselves as God in the lives of people that people do not seek the Lord but seek for them.

Some eat well and enjoy the things of life while they tell the people to wait for their reward in heaven.

Where did they learn all these from? Definitely not from Christ and not His apostles, we have the scriptures with us. Where did they get these evil practices from?

Are you ready for leadership, will you be the good leader. So that you and the people you lead will enjoy God's blessings?

What of the people?

Are you a good follower or will you be like the children of Israel who are always rebellious, they found the slightest opportunity to sin against God.

Moses told them:

Deuteronomy 31:27-29

For I know how rebellious and stubborn you are. Even now, while I am still alive and am here with you, you have rebelled against the lord. How much more rebellious will you be after my death!

“Now summon all the elders and officials of your tribes, so that I can speak to them directly and call heaven and earth to witness against them.

I know that after my death you will become utterly corrupt and will turn from the way I have commanded you to follow. In the days to come, disaster will come down on you, for you will do what is evil in the lord’s sight, making him very angry with your actions.”

What a people! What a bad testimony!

Church, are we repeating the same mistakes!

Or are we a people who know God each and everyone of us directly, and when we gather we come as a gathering of saints. When we are in the world we shine as lights.

Are we on the assignment or have we gone astray?

No,

Hebrews 10:38-39

And my righteous ones will live by faith.

But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”

But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.

Glory to God.

We will be found faithful, no matter how huge or small our assignment seems.

Blessed one, return to the assignment if you have derailed. Blessed one, begin the assignment if you are yet to start. However, if You don't know what to do, come to the Lord for your assignment and as the children of Israel were instructed, study His word and stay in prayer that you will always be in His presence.

We will definitely finish well.

Glory to God.

PRAYER

Dear Lord help me stay faithful on my assignment, and if I am yet to begin, Lord bring me into it. Keep me on track Loving Father, by the power of Your Spirit doing Your will. I will finish well. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love

@the watcher.
