BLESSED BY DEFAULT
Deuteronomy 33:1,3,28-29
This is the blessing that Moses, the man of God, gave to the people of Israel before his death:
Indeed, he loves his people; all his holy ones are in his hands.
They follow in his steps and accept his teaching.
So Israel will live in safety, prosperous Jacob in security,
in a land of grain and new wine, while the heavens drop down dew.
How blessed you are, O Israel!
Who else is like you, a people saved by the Lord?
He is your protecting shield and your triumphant sword!
Your enemies will cringe before you, and you will stomp on their backs!”
I have always said it just as scripture certifies, we are blessed by default.
Look at the book of Genesis:
Genesis 1:28
Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”
Every human is blessed by default.
When Moses was to depart, what He did was to bless the people of Israel.
When Christ came to the earth, He blessed all those that believed and gave them the right to be children of God.
John 3:17
God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
And when He ascended:
Ephesians 4:8
That is why the Scriptures say,
“When he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.”
Ephesians 1:3
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
So the default is blessings.
We have problems when we begin to rebel.
Adam and Eve began to have problems when they left all the goods and blessings to seek for a false pleasure and hope, they then lost all!
Genesis 2:16-17
But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—
except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
The children of Israel had all the blessings unless they decided to go for the but . . .
Deuteronomy 28:13,15
If you listen to these commands of the lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.
“But if you refuse to listen to the lord your God and do not obey all the commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overwhelm you:
The default is the blessings, it is when we rebel that we begin to receive something else.
Jesus gave us the salvation parable, the boy who became prodigal and left his father's cover demanding his inheritance, went to squander it and became a mockery.
This is the situation of some who have left obedience and faithfulness to the Lord, they have mixed with the world and have traded the glory, power and splendour from the Lord for mockery just to satisfy their delusion. For the world cannot truly love you!
Listen, Dear ministers of God, your claim is the blessings of the Levi, can you do what they did, can you pay their sacrifice? Listen:
Deuteronomy 33:8-11
Moses said this about the tribe of Levi:
“O Lord, you have given your Thummim and Urim—the sacred lots— to your faithful servants the Levites.
You put them to the test at Massah and struggled with them at the waters of Meribah.
The Levites obeyed your word and guarded your covenant.
They were more loyal to you than to their own parents.
They ignored their relatives and did not acknowledge their own children.
They teach your regulations to Jacob; they give your instructions to Israel.
They present incense before you and offer whole burnt offerings on the altar.
Bless the ministry of the Levites, O Lord, and accept all the work of their hands.
Hit their enemies where it hurts the most; strike down their foes so they never rise again.”
Does this describe, O minister of God. Can you take your eyes off the wealth of the world? Can you make the sacrifice. Ask Paul, study what He sacrificed, can you?
Listen to this conversation between Christ and Peter:
Matthew 19:27-29
Then Peter said to him, “We’ve given up everything to follow you. What will we get?”
Jesus replied, “I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.
O ministers of God, do you know your assignment. Is the Lord still your employer?
To all of us:
Listen again, you are blessed by default, let no one deceive you, outside the Lord there is no true love or blessing. That is why many seek to be part of this group or the other looking for a succour, a kind of cover, but there is only one true cover.
Psalms 91:1-4
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Can we come back to the default, can we make it about the Lord who saved us, called us His own and blessed us.
O help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
I am blessed of You O Lord by default, I cannot be otherwise. Keep me Lord in the secret place of Your Most High. I am sustained by Your power. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
