REMEMBER THE LORD YOUR GOD
Deuteronomy 8:19-20
“But I assure you of this: If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, worshiping and bowing down to them, you will certainly be destroyed.
Just as the Lord has destroyed other nations in your path, you also will be destroyed if you refuse to obey the Lord your God.
The same way obedience brings about the blessings, disobedience brings about punishment.
Moses informed the people of Israel on the blessings that will follow their obedience, he also added that if they decided to walk in disobedience the consequences would be punishment.
Look at it, the people previously living there were being displaced because of their evil deeds. If the children of Israel go there to do the same, they would also become liable for the same offence - they will also be punished likewise.
This is just judgment!
No wonder Jesus told the people of His day:
Matthew 11:20-24
Then Jesus began to denounce the towns where he had done so many of his miracles, because they hadn’t repented of their sins and turned to God.
“What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse.
I tell you, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you.
“And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today.
I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you.”
If they forget God they get the same punishment the people who did not know God got, they will be displaced.
The same applies to us believers. Christ has saved us from eternal damnation and given us the power to be called God's children.
We cannot afford to forget God and return to bondage, we must stay faithful.
Colossians 3:5-6,10
So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.
Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
We cannot afford to forget God. We forget God when we walk in disobedience doing those things that do not please Him.
Many would say it doesn't matter but scripture says:
Ephesians 5:5-11
You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.
Don’t participate in the things these people do.
For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!
For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.
Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.
O help us Good Lord. Keep us in Your righteousness and let Your presence always be with us, we cannot forget you for it is in You we live and move and have our being.
Keep us pure in Your obedience O Lord, we will not be condemned but commended.
Glory to Your name Lord.
PRAYER
Dear Loving Father keep me in Your righteousness, may I always walk in the consciousness of Your presence. I will not forget You Lord instead I will continually obey You. Help me Good Lord. Glory to Your name forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
