TILL HE LEFT

Numbers 20:28-29

At the summit, Moses removed the priestly garments from Aaron and put them on Eleazar, Aaron’s son. Then Aaron died there on top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar went back down.

When the people realized that Aaron had died, all Israel mourned for him thirty days.

God had said that Aaron and Moses would not enter the promised land because of their disobedience at Meribah

Numbers 20:12

But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me enough to demonstrate my holiness to the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land I am giving them!”

We saw from our topic two days ago that it was the people's nagging and complain that pushed them to err.

Now he has left the scene and they mourned him as if they really appreciated him when he was with them working tirelessly for their welfare.

The unsteady nature of humans, makes it difficult to commit yourself fully to anyone, however we have faithful friends. They are rare but when you find one how blessed you are.

Man's best friend is God, for even when we did not know Him He loved us and thought about us.

Never let any "supposed" friend make you sin against God. If you really love me as a friend then you would not let me sin against my maker and keeper.

When we go through the study of scriptures we will see time and again how people and friends have caused some to sin against God. King Saul is an example, he said:

1 Samuel 13:11-13

but Samuel said, “What is this you have done?”Saul replied, “I saw my men scattering from me, and you didn’t arrive when you said you would, and the Philistines are at Micmash ready for battle.

So I said, ‘The Philistines are ready to march against us at Gilgal, and I haven’t even asked for the Lord’s help!’ So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering myself before you came.”

“How foolish!” Samuel exclaimed. “You have not kept the command the lord your God gave you. Had you kept it, the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.

Many a minister have been led away from their call and faithfulness to God because they want to look good in front of the people and receive their commendation.

Many parents have lost good upbringing and discipline for the children because they want their children to like them.

Many leaders have lost their place in divine purpose because they want to hear the cheer of the people.

Remember what also happened with Aaron at mount Sinai:

Exodus 32:1,21-22

When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron. “Come on,” they said, “make us some gods who can lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.”

Finally, he turned to Aaron and demanded, “What did these people do to you to make you bring such terrible sin upon them?”

“Don’t get so upset, my Lord,” Aaron replied. “You yourself know how evil these people are.

These are the people that now mourn him for thirty days!

We really must be careful in trying to please the world. They would not be there in the time of troubles. They cannot save your soul neither can they give you eternal life.

No wonder the prophet said:

Jeremiah 17:5-6,9

This is what the Lord says:

“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.

They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future.

They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land.

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked.

Who really knows how bad it is?

There are indeed good people we meet day after day and ofcourse we need each other as humans through our journey through this earth. However, we must understand the limits and the boundary and when we do not allow our association to separate us from God or make us err.

As brethren in the fellowship or gathering and in the church in general, may we be real edifiers of one another another and not antagonists to one another.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

The Lord will guide us aright.

Help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Lord lead me continually that I will not err against you because of anyone but trusting in you I will please You in all things. Instead of anyone causing me to err may I cause them to please You instead. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
