THEY COULD PUSH YOU TO ERR

Numbers 20:3-5,11-12

The people blamed Moses and said, “If only we had died in the Lord’s presence with our brothers!

Why have you brought the congregation of the lord’s people into this wilderness to die, along with all our livestock?

Why did you make us leave Egypt and bring us here to this terrible place? This land has no grain, no figs, no grapes, no pomegranates, and no water to drink!”

Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the staff, and water gushed out. So the entire community and their livestock drank their fill.

But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me enough to demonstrate my holiness to the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land I am giving them!”

We must beware of the people we lead that they do not get us into trouble. Also those who work with us or for us. Including all those under our care.

Moses had a record of being compassionate for his people, the children of Israel, however they really did not reciprocate his love, instead they set him up for trouble.

Remember while Moses lived as a prince in Egypt, it was in saving the life of an Israelite who was about to be killed by an Egyptian that got him into trouble that he had to flee.

Exodus 2:11-15

Many years later, when Moses had grown up, he went out to visit his own people, the Hebrews, and he saw how hard they were forced to work. During his visit, he saw an Egyptian beating one of his fellow Hebrews.

After looking in all directions to make sure no one was watching, Moses killed the Egyptian and hid the body in the sand.

The next day, when Moses went out to visit his people again, he saw two Hebrew men fighting. “Why are you beating up your friend?” Moses said to the one who had started the fight.

The man replied, “Who appointed you to be our prince and judge? Are you going to kill me as you killed that Egyptian yesterday?”Then Moses was afraid, thinking, “Everyone knows what I did.”

And sure enough, Pharaoh heard what had happened, and he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian. When Moses arrived in Midian, he sat down beside a well.

Truly, Moses was never appreciated by the people he wanted to redeem.

Remember that time and time again Moses had pleaded on behalf of the people when they were about to be wiped out. What did he get in return, continual rebellion.

They continued to push him, from the time they left Egypt, when they got to the red sea and after they crossed. They kept complaining of water, food, meat etc.

Finally they provoked him to disobey the Lord.

Listen, as believers, temptation could come from any source, however the most dangerous ones are the ones that come from your household. From those we care about, cater for or work with.

Some parents have gotten into troubles because of the errs of their children, some ministers have taken the wrong path because of the exaltation or rebellion of those they minister to. The list goes on.

We then must be careful, we really need God's Spirit at every point in time. We can never tell when we will give in if we rely on ourselves.

Listen to what Jesus said:

John 2:23-25

Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in him.

But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew all about people.

No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart.

May we never be pushed to err.

Help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, help me to walk in Your wisdom in all that I do. May I not err as I continue to relate and interact with others. Make me to please You in all things.

He calls us blessed.

Love

@the watcher.
