THE CONQUERING BEGINS

Numbers 21:24,30-31,35

But the Israelites slaughtered them with their swords and occupied their land from the Arnon River to the Jabbok River. They went only as far as the Ammonite border because the boundary of the Ammonites was fortified.

We have utterly destroyed them, from Heshbon to Dibon. 

We have completely wiped them out as far away as Nophah and Medeba.”

So the people of Israel occupied the territory of the Amorites.

And Israel killed King Og, his sons, and all his subjects; not a single survivor remained. Then Israel occupied their land.

When the Lord promises He fulfills His part, it is we humans that are fallible, we are not consistent with our promise.

Now the opposition territory are being occupied, but it did not just happen, there was first a battle.

Numbers 21:23,33

But King Sihon refused to let them cross his territory. Instead, he mobilized his entire army and attacked Israel in the wilderness, engaging them in battle at Jahaz.

Then they turned and marched up the road to Bashan, but King Og of Bashan and all his people attacked them at Edrei.

The Lord had promised and He will fulfill, most of the time it is the battles that we are worried about, we ought not to.

Jesus told His disciples of the trials and tribulations, 

John 16:33a

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. 

But that was not the highlight of it. He concluded by saying that He had already won the battle for them.

John 16:33b

But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

The Lord will not send you to battle unless He has already given you victory. Selah

Don't just fix your eyes on the challenge, don't focus on the Goliath but on the God who will bring down the Goliath.

If you keep your vision blurred by what seems to be the obstacles, when you hit, the target would be missed . However when you focus on the goal, no obstacle will be strong enough to impede your hitting the goal.

David understood this, that is why He could boldly face Goliath.

1 Samuel 17:45-46,51

David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel!

Then David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword from its sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his head.

We must focus on the One who has given us victory and not on the ones who threaten our peace. We have been given victory already. 

The conquering has begun!

Glory to God forevermore.

PRAYER

Merciful Lord, I cease to give too much attention to the attacks of the enemy and all that comes as a challenge to me, instead Father I focus on You for You have given me victory already in Christ Jesus. Let the conquering begin. I take back in folds that which is good that I have lost. I triumph and excel in all good things. Thank You loving Father.

He calls us blessed.
