HELP YOU REMEMBER

Numbers 15:38-41

“Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: Throughout the generations to come you must make tassels for the hems of your clothing and attach them with a blue cord.

When you see the tassels, you will remember and obey all the commands of the Lord instead of following your own desires and defiling yourselves, as you are prone to do.

The tassels will help you remember that you must obey all my commands and be holy to your God.

I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt that I might be your God. I am the Lord your God!”

To keep the people of Israel in remembrance of the laws, Moses was instructed to tell the people to make tassels for the helm of their clothings attached with a blue cord, this was to help them remember the laws of their God.

See what God said there:

Numbers 15:39 (message)

When you look at these tassels you'll remember and keep all the commandments of God, and not get distracted by everything you feel or see that seduces you into infidelities.

We as humans are prone to forget, ofcourse we are not infallible. The law in the above chapter also considered when the whole community or an individual makes a mistake and how it can be salvaged.

As the revelation of Christ came closer we see God making things better, He said through His prophet:

Jeremiah 31:33-34

“But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” says the Lord. “I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already,” says the Lord. “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.”

How was this to be?

In Christ Jesus, the very Word of God, God revealed to man.

Christ came and taught us, revealing the Father, then He dropped the fulfilment of the prophesy:

John 14:15-18,26

“If you love me, obey my commandments.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.

He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

Today we remember the laws of our God by His Spirit, the law summarised in love and obedience.

Paul explained to us, how well we please God by displaying the fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-24

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there.

So it is for us to submit to the Holy Spirit in us, feeding our spirit with the word, prayer and worship.

We must walk in the Spirit, if we are going to please God and fulfill our purpose:

Galatians 5:16

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

O help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Dear Loving Father, fill me a fresh with Your Holy Spirit, delete everything in me that is yet sinful, yes all that does not please You, make me holy and separated for You, that I may live and walk in Your righteousness which is in Christ Jesus and thus fulfill purpose.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
