WHAT WILL YOU BRING?
Numbers 7:18-20
On the second day Nethanel son of Zuar, leader of the tribe of Issachar, presented his offering.
His offering consisted of a silver platter weighing 31/4 pounds and a silver basin weighing 13/4 pounds (as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel). These were both filled with grain offerings of choice flour moistened with olive oil.
He also brought a gold container weighing four ounces, which was filled with incense.
We are used to asking and asking again and again. We understand that God wants us to ask:
Matthew 7:7-8,11
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
Yes, God awaits our request He wants us to ask, however, what is your response, how is God's blessing in your life fulfilling His will. Why should God trust you with treasures if you are not going to use them for His glory?
In every relationship there is a two way commitment. Both parties "bring something to the table", there is no one sided relationship.
In our relationship with God it is one sided when it comes to our salvation, because we contribute nothing to it, all He said was for us to come!
Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.
Jesus expressed it this way:
Matthew 11:28
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
However, when you have come you will need to play your own part of the relationship.
Isaiah 1:19-20
If you will only obey me, you will have plenty to eat.
But if you turn away and refuse to listen, you will be devoured by the sword of your enemies.
I, the Lord, have spoken!”
and,
Matthew 11:29-30
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Where some believers gets it wrong is the after, the following Him.
Matthew 16:24
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.
The work of salvation is a finished work, however our receiving and commitment to it is an ongoing process.
Colossians 2:6
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.
What is our contribution?
We must understand this scripture:
1 Corinthians 4:7
For what gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?
All we have is by God's provision thus we cannot be careless about it but be rich towards God.
In Jesus' parable of the rich fool, the man was condemned not because he was rich, No, but because he was not rich towards God!
Luke 12:21
“Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
So what do you bring to the table?
As a branch are you producing fruit for the kingdom? If you are not, then you risk being cut off!
John 15:2
He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
What do you bring to the table, are you in your place of assignment. Are your talents, time and treasure contributing to God's divine purpose?
It is time to be productive for the kingdom.
Help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, make me fully productive to Your kingdom, positioned to bear fruit that will abide.
He calls us blessed.
Love
