INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING . . .
Numbers 11:20,23
You will eat it for a whole month until you gag and are sick of it. For you have rejected the Lord, who is here among you, and you have whined to him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”
Yesterday we looked at the complain of the children of Israel as the journeyed in the wilderness. They vexed the Lord in that they said:
Numbers 11:20b
For you have rejected the Lord, who is here among you, and you have whined to him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”
It was sign of ungratefulness. There was no sign of gratitude for the deliverance they received.
There was nothing wrong in them desiring to have meat, but instead of asking, they decided to complain and make ungrateful statements.
The God who did all these miracles for you, provision of meat would not be a problem for Him?
Numbers 11:23
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”
Do we do the same as believers?
Are we complainers?
Are we ungrateful?
Remember what the scripture says:
Romans 8:32
Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
What else is so difficult for Him to do than this? Nothing.
So instead of complaining or whining, ASK!
Matthew 7:7-8
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Our Heavenly Father has an open door, policy, He has asked us to come. When Christ came He revealed the Heavenly Father to us, the true nature that many in the old time had no clue of.
Matthew 11:28-30
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
He was the Father in the flesh and showed us God's open hands spread out to receive us.
Note that He talked of a yoke, however He emphasized that it was easy and light.
The children of Israel wasted so much time going round the wilderness, because of unbelief, we will see later on that the entire generation of adults who left Egypt never got to the promise land except two!
Scripture records:
Hebrews 11:6
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Many believers have remained at a spot for so long, not because the Lord do not want them to move, but they have chosen to be complainers and to be ungrateful. They fear all types of challenges and are not ready to take up their cross to follow.
Some would say that it is because of their environment, the situation of the country this or that.
Listen, there is no excuse.
The Lord told Moses to chose seventy men in whom He would put a measure of His Spirit in him, so that they can assist in the leadership of the people.
Numbers 11:16-17
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Gather before me seventy men who are recognized as elders and leaders of Israel. Bring them to the Tabernacle to stand there with you.
I will come down and talk to you there. I will take some of the Spirit that is upon you, and I will put the Spirit upon them also. They will bear the burden of the people along with you, so you will not have to carry it alone.
The evidence of the spirit outpouring was that the men prophesied at that moment:
Numbers 11:25
And the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to Moses. Then he gave the seventy elders the same Spirit that was upon Moses. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But this never happened again.
They were to come to the tabernacle, two on the list could not get there. Yet, they received the same spirit and prophesied!
Numbers 11:26
Two men, Eldad and Medad, had stayed behind in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but they had not gone out to the Tabernacle. Yet the Spirit rested upon them as well, so they prophesied there in the camp.
You see that the location was not the problem, once the Lord chooses you, where you are cannot be the limit for the flow of His Spirit, so also His blessings.
I love the heart of Moses, unlike some today. When Joshua wanted the two others to be restrained, Moses made a desire which later on we will see was God's desire for all people.
Numbers 11:27-29
A young man ran and reported to Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”
Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ assistant since his youth, protested, “Moses, my master, make them stop!”
But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit upon them all!”
And that was what God declared.
We must not take complaining as a nature, instead we make use of our knees. Complains are birthed from worrying and fear. This is not of God's Spirit.
Jesus asked:
Matthew 6:27
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
Yes, things will arise that will need your attention, remember your God is bigger than any situation, raise Him higher than any challenge in your heart and in your actions. They will submit.
Remember what God asked Moses:
Numbers 11:23
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”
Trust in the Lord.
PRAYER
Dear Lord You are bigger than anything that my mind can fathom. Help me to trust You completely and instead of complaining, to pray. Let the faith of all believers in the world be renewed today.
He calls us blessed.
Love
