DON'T DO THE ABOMINABLES!

Leviticus 18:2-3,30

“Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. I am the Lord your God.

So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life.

So obey my instructions, and do not defile yourselves by committing any of these detestable practices that were committed by the people who lived in the land before you. I am the Lord your God.”

The children of Israel where coming into a land where others had inhabited, they were to displace people who were removed because their ways did not please the Lord.

Thus there is no justification for God's people to continue in the same errors and sins that caused the punishment of people who were there before them. So, they were being properly warned.

The same way as believers, we must be careful about the way we live our lives. Christ came and paid the price for our redemption, not only that, He empowered us by His Spirit to walk in the ways of God. We have no excuse to continue living in sin.

Reading through the new testaments we see the warning again and again. Christ established that sin is a product of the thoughts in the heart, then you manifest them by actually doing them:

Matthew 15:16, 18-20

“Don’t you understand yet?” Jesus asked.

“Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.

But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you.

For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.

These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.”

The epistles also emphasized it:

Galatians 5:19-21

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,

idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,

envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

James 1:14-16

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away.

These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters.

We can see that the whole issue is with the heart of man.

No wonder the wise man said by God's inspiration:

Proverbs 4:23

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

The enemy's battle is for the heart of man, when he gets through them he knows sin can reign. However when we surrender our hearts to God, He makes us clean and empowers us to live in righteousness.

Romans 12:1-2

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

We submit to God to avoid becoming the abominable for truly the abominable begins with the little deviations, again and again then one is led fully into the abominable.

I recall this song "slow fade" by Jeremy Camp, the lyrics goes thus:

"It’s A Slow Fade When You Give Yourself Away

It’s A Slow Fade When Black And White Have Turned To Gray

Thoughts Invade, Choices Are Made, A Price Will Be Paid

When You Give Yourself Away

People Never Crumble In A Day

It’s A Slow Fade, It’s A Slow Fade"

Little by little the evil craws in, before you know it, the abominable seeks a place.

The song further says:

"The Journey From Your Mind To Your Hands

Is Shorter Than You’re Thinking

Be Careful If You Think You Stand

You Just Might Be Sinking"

That is the problem, we must guard our heart, we do this by giving authority to the spirit. Spiritual activities include feeding the heart with the word, exercising it in prayer and fasting, and keeping it in peace and joy by worshipping.

Jesus quoted God's word to the enemy:

Deuteronomy 8:3b

He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the lord.

Matthew 4:4

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,

‘People do not live by bread alone,  but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

So we avoid the abominable by guarding our heart.

We must let our children, disciples and all under us know this truth. We must let the whole world know. We must live this truth.

What is the joy?

We can make amends today and return or begin the true life in God.

For:

Psalms 95:7b-8a

If only you would listen to his voice today!

The Lord says, “Don’t harden your hearts

2 Corinthians 6:2

For God says,

“At just the right time, I heard you.

On the day of salvation, I helped you.”Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.

We will never fall into or become the abominable.

PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father bring me into your righteousness which is in Christ Jesus. Disconnect me from every atom of sin or evil. Let your righteousness flood me from inside, that my steps will be ordered by You. Lord let everything I do please You. Glory to Your name Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
