Leviticus 2:11

“Do not use yeast in preparing any of the grain offerings you present to the Lord, because no yeast or honey may be burned as a special gift presented to the Lord.

I have always wondered why unleavened bread was important in God's instructions to the children of Israel. Why was yeast not allowed on their bread be it during the time of passover or for grain offering on the altar.

Exodus 13:6-7

For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast. Then on the seventh day, celebrate a feast to the lord.

Eat bread without yeast during those seven days. In fact, there must be no yeast bread or any yeast at all found within the borders of your land during this time.

I had to go research opinion of writers and it was opined that it had something to do with the significance of yeast in the bible context.

The yeast was used time and again to represent sin, that could like yeast permeate the whole loaf.

Luke 13:21

It is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”

1 Corinthians 5:6-8

Your boasting about this is terrible. Don’t you realize that this sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough?

Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.

So let us celebrate the festival, not with the old bread of wickedness and evil, but with the new bread of sincerity and truth.

Christ is our new Passover, He is the unleavened bread who had no sin.

Therefore we as the temple of God must have no yeast sacrificed on our altar:

2 Corinthians 12:20

For I am afraid that when I come I won’t like what I find, and you won’t like my response. I am afraid that I will find quarreling, jealousy, anger, selfishness, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorderly behavior.

For we worship God by His Holy Spirit and His Spirit has the unleavened characteristics:

Galatians 5:22-23,25

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Remember sin is like the yeast and if it is not checked it will permeate the whole loaf(congregation)

These include false teachings, abominable acts and other forms of iniquity.

Galatians 5:9

This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough!

Present yourself as an unleavened bread to the Lord. Get rid of all the evil yeast that would want to permeate your whole loaf.

Don't give it a chance.

Colossians 3:5-9

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.

You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.

But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.

Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.

Instead:

Colossians 3:10,12,14,17

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

So that:

Colossians 3:4

And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

Be the unleavened, don't give sin room, No, don't let it through, you have been set free already!!!
