AS THE LORD COMMANDED
Exodus 39:1b,5b,7b,21b,26b,29b,31b
just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
All this was done just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
All this was done just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Do you see the trend, the whole building of the tabernacle was with obedience to the instruction of the Lord. . . .just as the Lord commanded . . .
The problem begins from man not knowing the instructions of the Lord.
The Psalmist sang:
Psalms 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
God's instructions are a must know, that brings us back to the question, how do we know what God has instructed?
The answer is found in the book of Hebrews:
Hebrews 1:1-2
Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.
And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.
God spoke to the people of old through the prophets however today He speaks to us through Christ.
The law and the prophets is the old testament, the Torah we hold today which we see in the bible. The words of Christ is the new testament that is the record of His sayings, testaments of His disciples and their letters.
We must remember what God promised through the prophets:
Jeremiah 31:31-34
“The day is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah.
This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant, though I loved them as a husband loves his wife,” says the Lord.
“But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” says the Lord. “I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already,” says the Lord. “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.”
This new covenant is the one Christ brought to us and He sustains it with the presence of God's Holy Spirit in our lives.
John 14:16-17
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
John 16:13-15
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.
He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.
All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’
Christ reveals the old testament to us!
Matthew 5:17
“Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.
So how do we know God instructions:
1. By studying the word of God, the Bible, as we have it today.
2 Timothy 2:15
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
2. Listening to the Holy Spirit which is the seal you have that proves you are a child of God.
John 3:5
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
Ephesians 4:30
And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
These are the two ways we hear God's instruction. While praying the Lord speaks to us, He speaks to us in dreams and also through teachers of the word, however all of these ways must align with the first two.
Truly, it is important to follow God's instructions if we really want to finish our assignment.
When we stick to God's instruction we do not sin and we save ourselves so much trouble.
There is so much noise calling for our attention today. Religions, philosophies, ideologies and all forms of sentiments and modernisation.
Remember what Samuel told Saul before Saul's final rejection:
1 Samuel 15:22b
Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.
We must neither be deceived or distracted, we should stick with the word of God.
O help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
