ACCOUNTABILITY

Exodus 38:21,24-25,29

This is an inventory of the materials used in building the Tabernacle of the Covenant. The Levites compiled the figures, as Moses directed, and Ithamar son of Aaron the priest served as recorder.

The people brought special offerings of gold totaling 2,193 pounds, as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel. This gold was used throughout the Tabernacle.

The whole community of Israel gave 7,545 pounds of silver, as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel.

The people also brought as special offerings 5,310 pounds of bronze,

One major responsibility of the believer, especially those in leadership, is accountability!

It is ignorance that will make a minister of God "no matter the title" feel offended when asked to account for that which is entrusted to them. At no point has the collective contribution of members of a group, fellowship or "church" become any individual's personal possession. IT IS FOR THE LORD!

You as a leader or steward, which is the right word, are only a custodian or accountant for that which is contributed. You cannot afford not to account properly for it.

Every single item donated for the building of the tabernacle was well documented and it's use properly explained.

If that which was God's direct instruction was thus accounted for, what then is anyone's excuse.

One major emphasis of our Lord's teaching and parables is "you will give account . . .". It went as far as even the idle word we speak!

Matthew 12:36-37

And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.

The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

Accountability is a necessary demand of the believer!

Matthew 25:14,19

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone.

“After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money.

Romans 14:12

Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God.

Always be ready to give account!

So help us Good Lord. May we be accountable, being blameless, instead fruitful, to Your glory Heavenly Father.

He calls us blessed.
