THE WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE

Exodus 13:17-18

When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”

So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle.

One thing we must understand about getting to the destination is that we will encounter the wilderness.

Going so far into the scriptures we see that all those who were accomplished and fulfilled their purpose, went through their wilderness. From Abraham to Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and even Moses.

The wilderness is that difficult part of the journey, but meant to tutor us, test us and prepare us for the final destination.

Joseph went from the pit, to being dragged all the way(away) from home to a strange land - Egypt. It didn't end there he was a slave who was yet wrongly accused and thrown into prison. His major test was with Potiphar's wife and he passed the test. (Remember, from the enemy it is temptation but to the Lord it is a test)

All these wilderness experience led him to become Father to the king of Egypt (Pharaoh) and consequently the most powerful man alive in his time! (He who dictates who gets the basic need of life is the most powerful)

The examples of wilderness experiences in scriptures continues after Moses to everyone the Lord lifted up. An exception could be made of Solomon though he did not seem to finish well.

Even our Lord had to pass through His wilderness before plunging fully into ministry:

Matthew 4:1

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.

Have you finished your wilderness experience?

Are you yet to have your wilderness experience?

Are you in your wilderness experience?

Understand where you are that you do not fail in your wilderness period.

Listen in your wilderness, you will be faced with temptations just as Joseph and others in scriptures including our Lord, the Messiah.

Don't fall for the temptations.

Don't be disenfranchised, don't look only at the present situation, see the promise, focus on what the Lord has promised You. This is one of the secret of all those who made it through their wilderness experience.

One truth You must know is this:

Exodus 13:21-22

The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night.

And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people.

The Lord will be with You through it all!

Psalms 91:15

When they call on me, I will answer;

I will be with them in trouble.

I will rescue and honor them.

Psalm 91:15

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I [will be] with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

Not that there will be no trouble(wilderness) however the Lord is saying He will be with us through that period.

I always say, just as scripture records, that the best time to go through your wilderness is while you are still young:

Lamentations 3:27-28

And it is good for people to submit at an early age to the yoke of his discipline:

Let them sit alone in silence beneath the Lord’s demands.

Know this young people, and elders teach your children and young ones this truth. You may run away from it but it is inevitable. Selah

Remember the Lord will be with us though it all, working wonders and giving us doses of miracles here and there.

Remember, after the rain comes the sunshine. The wilderness experience is for a set time, you will triumph and prosper in the land of promise if you pass the tests.

Help us Good Lord.

Victory is sure.

Glory to Your name forever Dear Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
