Exodus 23:8-9

“Take no bribes, for a bribe makes you ignore something that you clearly see. A bribe makes even a righteous person twist the truth.

“You must not oppress foreigners. You know what it’s like to be a foreigner, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.


There are characteristics that are described as things that God hates. In Proverbs chapter six we see :


Proverbs 6:16-19

There are six things the Lord hates— no, seven things he detests:

haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family.


In the new testament we see them as the fruit of the flesh.


In summary we can call them acts born out of hatred. That is acts that are not acts of love!


God told the children of Israel to be careful in their dealings with foreigners, reminding them that they were once foreigners in someone else's land.


The problem arises when believers who claim to have been saved by Christ, washed in His blood and filled with His Spirit display these characteristics also!!!


It baffles me when supposed believers seem to take God for granted. A seemingly liberty or carefree attitude towards God's desires and instructions. What do we think will be the repercussion of that?


How can believers be found to be engaged in corruption, theft, scams, tribalism, racism, lies and even murder. Listen, when you approve or refuse to disapprove their ways you are actually part of them.


The excuse is always, oh this people are prospering they are the ones making the money, enjoying the things of life. Hello, it is NOT always what it seems!


David's musician Asaph, who worked in the temple wrote the following in Psalm 73:


Psalms 73:11-14,17-19,28

“What does God know?” they ask. 

“Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”

Look at these wicked people - enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.

Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason?

I get nothing but trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain.

Then I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked.

Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction.

In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors.

But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.


Never live in the flesh, live by the Spirit that you may see well. Lot thought their was prosperity in the land of Sodom and Gomorrah when he made his choice of places to dwell in when separating from Abraham! (It is not always what it seems. Selah)


Stay clean, let those who do evil continue with their evil, if they refuse to listen and change. Do not join them, for if you do your wrath may come sooner then theirs.


No matter the number of people who have compromised, stay clean!


Exodus 23:2a

“You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong. 


Your righteous prosperity is on its way you don't have to do evil to get it, God will show you the way and He will also protect You with it

Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life.

Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.

Remember: God is in control.

As we go through the 11th month of this year of accomplishment, let us be reminded. When it seems to hurt so much, or it all looks quiet and alone, when it appears not to work out.
