YOUR DREAM

Genesis 37:4-5,11

But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him.

One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever.

But while his brothers were jealous of Joseph, his father wondered what the dreams meant.

We learn something from Joseph the dreamer.

It was one thing that their Father loved him more than the rest of them, yes they were not happy about it. Moreso it was another, that the boy had dreams of being above all of them, so much that they would even bow to him. Thus they hated him more.

I wonder what kind of hatred a sibling would have against another, some might say this was because they were polygamous, coming from different mothers. I would not agree, for Cain and Abel came from the same womb!

Let us quickly look at why Jacob loved Joseph more, the bible records that it was because he was the child of his old age, yes, but we must remember that he was the first seed of the woman he loved so much that he worked fourteen (14) years for Laban. She waited so many years before she could have him. (As parents we ought to be careful of open favouritism).

Furthermore, Joseph was of an upright character, he feared God, he did not allow the world to take away his Godly nature. Listen:

Genesis 37:2b

But Joseph reported to his father some of the bad things his brothers were doing.

For it is one thing to be born into or to get connected to favour, it is another to have the character to sustain that position. Selah!

Do you know your dream? Do you have the character to sustain it?

Now the dreams had come and just like it always is, dream killers would arise:

Genesis 37:18-20

When Joseph’s brothers saw him coming, they recognized him in the distance. As he approached, they made plans to kill him.

“Here comes the dreamer!” they said.

“Come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns. We can tell our father, ‘A wild animal has eaten him.’ Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!”

We may say, "what wickedness", I would also add childishness or foolishness, for what business does your dream have to do with that of someone else.

The fact that the rain falls on your neighbour's farm does not stop it from falling on yours.

People do not understand this wisdom!

We must be aware that there are dream killers and not all of them may have evil intentions, for lack of understanding of the dream, may cause one to advice you wrongly thus you could derail.

Listen:

Genesis 37:11

But while his brothers were jealous of Joseph, his father wondered what the dreams meant.

That is the role of a good parent or leader, can you interprete the dream, can you see how that person could play that vital role to fulfil purpose?

I do say that the best gift parents could give their children is to assist them discover their gifts, talents and purpose while they are still young. They would ever be grateful to you. MAY THE LORD HELP US HERE.

Should we be afraid of dream killers, NO. Should we be cautious of them, YES.

Stick with the Heavenly Father who gave you the dream, stay on course, yes, as we read further we see that, that is what Joseph did.

Remember,

Habakkuk 2:3

This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.

If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.

Are you pursuing a dream? Or have you abandoned it. What has the Lord shown you that you have given up on maybe because of your mistakes, delays or fears?

Arise, it is time to dream again.

See if it is the Lord that showed you, He will surely bring it to pass. As Pastor T says:

"the Caller is the doer"

I see abandoned dreams and visions renewed, I see lost causes coming back into play, I see the hand of the Lord doing great things through us. Halleluyah.

Dream again!

He calls us blessed.
