KEEP MAKING PEACE
Genesis 32:3,15,20-21
Then Jacob sent messengers ahead to his brother, Esau, who was living in the region of Seir in the land of Edom.
30 female camels with their young, 40 cows, 10 bulls, 20 female donkeys, and 10 male donkeys.
And be sure to say, ‘Look, your servant Jacob is right behind us.’”Jacob thought, “I will try to appease him by sending gifts ahead of me. When I see him in person, perhaps he will be friendly to me.”
So the gifts were sent on ahead, while Jacob himself spent that night in the camp.
You cannot control how people would want to react to situations neither the choices they make, however scriptures says that as much as it lies on us, we should seek for peace.
Romans 12:18
Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
Peace is preferable to war, though sometimes it takes war for peace to reign.
A wise man seeks for peace instead of engaging in war especially when they know they are not in the right. For Christ said:
Matthew 5:25-26
“When you are on the way to court with your adversary, settle your differences quickly. Otherwise, your accuser may hand you over to the judge, who will hand you over to an officer, and you will be thrown into prison.
And if that happens, you surely won’t be free again until you have paid the last penny.
Why take up extra trouble, there is already enough to worry about.
Jacob knew he had offended Esau his brother so he sent peace offering ahead of himself:
Genesis 32:13,18,20-21
Jacob stayed where he was for the night. Then he selected these gifts from his possessions to present to his brother, Esau:
You must reply, ‘They belong to your servant Jacob, but they are a gift for his master Esau. Look, he is coming right behind us.’”
Who do you have to make peace with today?
Who have you hurt and yet cried as the victim, make peace today.
What decisions have you made or are about to make that has caused or will cause conflict?
Seek for peace today.
Christ said:
Matthew 5:9
God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.
Remember,
John 1:12
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
How does these two verses correlate?
Isaiah 9:6
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
For Christ is the Prince of peace, so you cannot believe in Him and not seek for peace.
Finally Christ left us with His peace.
John 14:27
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
The peace of the Lord be with you.
He calls us blessed.
