GET IT RIGHT
Genesis 28:5-8
So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Paddan-aram to stay with his uncle Laban, his mother’s brother, the son of Bethuel the Aramean.
Esau knew that his father, Isaac, had blessed Jacob and sent him to Paddan-aram to find a wife, and that he had warned Jacob, “You must not marry a Canaanite woman.”
He also knew that Jacob had obeyed his parents and gone to Paddan-aram.
It was now very clear to Esau that his father did not like the local Canaanite women.
Esua was supposed to be Isaac's favourite child yet he had NO clue what his father expected of him.
Proverbs 1:7-9
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
My child, listen when your father corrects you.
Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck.
It took him loosing all the blessing to understand that obedience was key.
In trying to correct his mistakes he yet did not know how to enquire advice from his parents.
We cannot just assume things, we must understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:17
Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
To leave a life pleasing to the Lord, we must understand what He expects from us. This is why we have His word.
Joshua 1:8
Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
We must get it right from the start else we keep heaping mistakes and more mistakes. Just as it is said in the medical profession "prevention is better than cure".
This year we will get it right. We will listen to the Spirit, we will hear, understand and obey.
Proverbs 23:22-23
Listen to your father, who gave you life, and don’t despise your mother when she is old.
Get the truth and never sell it; also get wisdom, discipline, and good judgment.
We have our Heavenly Father. May we continually do that which pleases Him.
John 8:29
And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him.”
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
