DISCONNECT TO CONNECT
Genesis 35:2-5
So Jacob told everyone in his household, “Get rid of all your pagan idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing.
We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone.”
So they gave Jacob all their pagan idols and earrings, and he buried them under the great tree near Shechem.
As they set out, a terror from God spread over the people in all the towns of that area, so no one attacked Jacob’s family.
To connect with God you must let go of all competitions. You are either committed to Him or disconnected from Him.
This is the reason why many don't have that experience with God.
Many have allowed themselves to be confused with all the philosophies and religions in the world. They have a warped knowledge of God.
For Jacob to experience God, He had to disconnect himself from all strange gods. They may not be in his custody but they were in his household.
Genesis 35:2
So Jacob told everyone in his household, “Get rid of all your pagan idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing.
Remember Rachael stole Laban's idols!
We have confusion when we have mixed multitudes, for there will be diversity of spirit. How will there be accord? There will always be discord.
So for us to enjoy God fully, we must DISCONNECT from idols or distractions and RECONNECT to God.
Isaiah 42:8
“I am the Lord; that is my name!
I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.
We can only connect through the only functional channel - Yeshau HaMaschiac, Jesus the Christ :
John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
1 Timothy 2:5
For,There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.
No matter how people argue, it cannot change the truth.
No matter how coordinated the reasoning is, it cannot comprehend or negate God's reasoning.
1 Corinthians 1:19-21
As the Scriptures say,
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”
So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.
Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.
I always say that those who felt that they knew so much did not enjoy Christ miracles and blessings while He walked the earth. They were busy arguing and searching for faults, while the simple were enjoying His glory.
It will also be that way in the end!
Have you made clear paths for your feet or are you still clouded with the confusion of the world?
There are so many idols in the world today. They range from humans, possessions, cults, denominations to obvious pacts with the enemy. Some have been wrongly deceived that the only way to prosper in the earth is to have a pact with the enemy.
They forget that:
Psalms 24:1-2
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him.
For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.
Remember how the enemy attempted to tempt Christ:
Matthew 4:8-11
Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
“I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.”
“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say,
‘You must worship the lord your God and serve only him.’”
Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.
The devil does not mind how foolish the temptation sounds, he will use it. Imagine offering you what is already yours for a price!
But many have fallen for the lie!
As a young person you hear things like,
* If you have not started drinking you are not yet matured;
* if you have not started having sex you are not yet matured;
* if you are not yet part of this gang or that group you are not yet belonging
etc.
When you now grow older, you see the foolishness in all the enticements.
You find out that you have wasted valuable time, which you would have used to stand strongly in faith by studying scriptures and prayers. Valuable time you would have used to build up talent and skills that will make you a desired person all over the world.
Proverbs 22:29
Do you see any truly competent workers?
They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people.
What are you disconnecting from this year, what are you reconnecting or connecting to.
You depend on God for this or that, you join this prayer, that fellowship, that crusade etc. However, where really is your heart?
John 4:23-24
But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
We must make the right choices.
We must disconnect, to connect.
