BEFORE YOU JUDGE ANOTHER

Genesis 38:24-26

About three months later, Judah was told, “Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has acted like a prostitute. And now, because of this, she’s pregnant.”“Bring her out, and let her be burned!” Judah demanded.

But as they were taking her out to kill her, she sent this message to her father-in-law: “The man who owns these things made me pregnant. Look closely. Whose seal and cord and walking stick are these?”

Judah recognized them immediately and said, “She is more righteous than I am, because I didn’t arrange for her to marry my son Shelah.” And Judah never slept with Tamar again.

Romans 2:1

You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things.

One major reason why we live a separated life is that we will judge even angels at the end of times. It is so easy to seat on the judgment seat, however before you judge another be sure that you have judged yourself first.

Matthew 7:1-5

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.

For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

“And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?

How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?

Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

We must never confuse judgment with correction or good admonition. For judgment has to do with sentencing while the other has to do with bringing one back to the right path.

You cannot lead one to the right path unless you are on it yourself. The blind cannot lead the blind. Two who are down cannot help themselves up. One has to be up to help the other get up too.

Judah was quick to pass sentence on his daughter-in-law (what wickedness), when he was the real adulterer!

Genesis 38:15-16

Judah noticed her and thought she was a prostitute, since she had covered her face.

So he stopped and propositioned her. “Let me have sex with you,” he said, not realizing that she was his own daughter-in-law.“How much will you pay to have sex with me?” Tamar asked.

Recall this incident recorded in the book of John:

John 8:3-9

As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd.

“Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery.

The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?”

They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.

They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!”

Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.

When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman.

We are so quick to judge others, but very slow to judge ourselves. If everyone was as swift to judge self rather than others, what a perfect world it will be!

See, there is no sentiment with God, He is not a respecter of persons - upon all Moses's exploits and closeness to Him, he did not enter the promised land. Selah

Don’t play around with the Heavenly Father, you get burnt. He is fair in judgment:

Romans 2:13,16

For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight.

And this is the message I proclaim—that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life.

This is in no way saying that we should condone sin, however the cleansing must start from YOU!

1 Peter 4:17a

For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household.

To be able to help others, you have to be helped yourself.

We must correct and admonish, therefore, we must be good examples.

May we not be found wanting.

Help us good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
