THE REPLACEMENT

Genesis 4:25-26

Adam had sexual relations with his wife again, and she gave birth to another son. She named him Seth, for she said, “God has granted me another son in place of Abel, whom Cain killed.”

When Seth grew up, he had a son and named him Enosh. At that time people first began to worship the lord by name.

The record of Cain and Abel, gives us a clear exam of what the tree of the knowledge of good and evil did to man (though it may not be literal). If you have been reading my devotionals over the years, you notice my emphasis on the power of choice.

We are now faced with choice, to choose between good and evil.

We have had a choice from the beginning, yes, that is why the enemy could convince Eve to eat of the fruit of disobedience.

So, Cain chose evil, for God specifically warned him, yet he was adamant.

His wrong choice led him to depart from the presence of the Lord, and as we saw yesterday, his generation grew in the wrong direction following his wrong path.

Today we read of the replacement. Seth was born, and as Eve testified:

Genesis 4:25b

She named him Seth, for she said, “God has granted me another son in place of Abel, whom Cain killed.”

Now Seth followed the right path as Abel did, the testimony was clear down his generation:

Genesis 4:26

When Seth grew up, he had a son and named him Enosh. At that time people first began to worship the Lord by name.

Glory to God.

When we sing this song:

"Almighty God, our generation shall praise Your name"

It is not just a song but a promise, a declaration, an oath!

Are we raising a generation that will praise the Lord. A generation that will call on the name of the Lord and walk in His righteousness.

We will not be replaced.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
