RENEWED COVENANT
Genesis 9:1-3
Then God blessed Noah and his sons and told them, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth.
All the animals of the earth, all the birds of the sky, all the small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the fish in the sea will look on you with fear and terror. I have placed them in your power.
I have given them to you for food, just as I have given you grain and vegetables.
The flood was over, the family was saved, it is another beginning. The Lord had to give a new covenant. It starts with the blessings, the scope of authority then instructions.
Here God actually gave man the authority he lost. Dominion over all the earth as a representative of God. However, sin was still a problem!
Man was still faced with the choice of righteousness or sin.
God further assured man that flood will not destroy the earth again, He did not stop there He placed a sign as a reminder.
Genesis: 12-13,15
Then God said, “I am giving you a sign of my covenant with you and with all living creatures, for all generations to come.
I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth.
and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life.
God always takes care of things. However humans yet have the options, that is the choice of walking in obedience or disobedience.
In obedience God's promises are fulfilled, in disobedience man faces the consequences.
The newest covenant is the one we have in Christ, it is the fulfilment of all covenant for it is eternal.
2 Corinthians 5:17,21
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
The promise of this covenant is everlasting life, where we live with Christ forever.
The sign of this covenant is the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 1:13
And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.
Ephesians 1:13b (kjv)
in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
We must never take this covenant for granted.
Dear Heavenly Father keep us in the safety of Your Everlasting covenant.
He calls us blessed.
