DAY OF REST

Genesis 2:2

On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work.

What does the day of rest teach us?

The Heavenly Father had His rest period - you should too.

Daily rest

Weekly rest

Monthly rest

Yearly rest

Rest from serving

Rest from schooling

Rest from childbirth

Rest from working for someone (employee)

Rest from secular work . . .

The list is endless

When exactly do you enjoy the fruit of all your toil?

The second part of the rest the Heavenly Father talked about was "keeping it holy". We must separate ourselves for the Lord. You cannot be too occupied with the world that you forget your creator.

Remember that we are suppose to return to Him.

Matthew 10:32-33

“Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.

But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.

If you don't have time for Christ Jesus the revelation of the Heavenly Father here on earth, why should He have your time in eternity?

Some have made the day of rest a religion, the Sabbath argument is a very passionate topic for some. Thank God that Christ made it clear:

Mark 2:27-28

Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath.

So the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!”

Paul by the Holy Spirit made it clearer:

Colossians 2:16-17

So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.

For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.

Are you in God's rest or are you seeking your own type of rest?

Jesus finally says:

Matthew 11:28

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

We must enter God's rest

Hebrews 4:9-11

So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.

For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.

So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

Christ is our rest.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
