WHO OWNS THE KINGDOM?
Luke 6:20
Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said, “God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.
There is a need to understand the statement of poor in context with what Christ was teaching.
Let us look at Matthew's accounts of the same verse:
Matthew 5:3
“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Very important, "their need for Him"
Now let us understand something - human intelligence or do I say world intelligence teaches liberation from a sort of mental slavery. Now this slavery is a sort of rebellion from a sort of bondage, however let us look at it properly - who actually keeps man bound?
The world system, governments, large organizations with policies that do not benefit everyone, that keeps a certain small group rich while the generally make the larger group poor.
Let us go back to the creation twist:
Genesis 3:4-5,7
“You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman.
“God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”
At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.
Now were their eyes opened? Yes, but what did they see?
Many theologians believe that though they may not have had physical clothes they would have been covered with God's glory.
So what the enemy sold to them was for them to see, okay. We hear the word "illuminati", that is "to see", it has been connated in so many ways but the whole essence is "people claiming to possess special enlightenment or knowledge of something", the question we should be asking is "What good has that knowledge done for you?"
What will make one feel too knowledgeable that they will declare that they do not need God? That is the evil type of knowledge, that is the type of knowledge the enemy sold to them at the beginning and it is still the same knowledge sold up till today.
Romans 1:20-23
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.
Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.
And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
So in our scriptures we see Christ talking about those who really own the kingdom, they are the ones who still have a need for God.
Listen, there are people with church titles who have already declared that they do not need God, so we are not just talking of those outside the church, this is why Christ said:
Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.
On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’
But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
For many no longer worship God but themselves, a personality or money!
So when Christ says poor, He is not saying you don't have money -"not at all", but that you have discovered your need for God.
Listen:
Revelation 3:17-19
You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see.
I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.
That self reliance that comes from feeling that you have made it by your power, that your hard work, smartness or wisdom has brought you thus far is one great downfall of many.
Listen to Nebuchadnezzar:
Daniel 4:29-31
Twelve months later he was taking a walk on the flat roof of the royal palace in Babylon.
As he looked out across the city, he said, ‘Look at this great city of Babylon! By my own mighty power, I have built this beautiful city as my royal residence to display my majestic splendor.’
“While these words were still in his mouth, a voice called down from heaven, ‘O King Nebuchadnezzar, this message is for you! You are no longer ruler of this kingdom.
Have we not said;
"My ministry . . ."
"My church . . ."
"My company . . ."
"My turn to rule . . ." etc
These statements of pride where we do not acknowledge God's hand in placing us is still the same as what Nebuchadnezzar did.
Luke 12:21
“Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
So you have no business seeking to inherit God's kingdom when you have already proclaimed that you do not need Him. Selah!
Another very crucial question we need to ask now is, by whom is God speaking to us?
Hebrews 1:1-2
Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.
And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.
So rejecting Christ is actually rejecting God!
1 John 2:22-23
And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.
Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
So the question remains _ do you owe God's kingdom, are you a part of the kingdom? Do you still need God?
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
