THE RIGHTEOUS CORRECTION

Psalms 141:5

Let the godly strike me!

It will be a kindness!

If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don’t let me refuse it.

But I pray constantly against the wicked and their deeds.

The better people we are today is as a result of the good corrections we received as we progressed in life.

David understood that counsel from the righteous may seem hurtful but it is better than receiving flattery from the wicked:

Proverbs 27:6

Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.

One major reason for the failure of most African leaders is as a result of the type of people they keep around them. When you keep flatterers and liars around you, they never give you a true picture of things neither will they give you good counsel.

Proverbs 16:10,12-13

The king speaks with divine wisdom; he must never judge unfairly.

A king detests wrongdoing, for his rule is built on justice.

The king is pleased with words from righteous lips; he loves those who speak honestly.

Can our leaders be described as the verses above?

Proverbs 16:20

Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.

Surround yourself with people who speak the truth, their supposed harsh words will make you better in contrast to those who will flatter you which will eventually lead to shame.

I look at some who come to talent hunt shows and perform woefully. Most of them say their friends said they were very good at the talent. You then wonder the type of friends they have.

Take the truth no matter how hurtful it seems, then work at correcting where you fault, that is how to grow and become a person of high esteem - a maestro.

As believers our best friend should be the scriptures:

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

May the righteous ones be the ones that surround us. May the Holy Spirit lead us aright always.

We excel in all good things.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
