WINNING THE FIRST BATTLE

Galatians 5:24

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.


I listen to some church gatherings and pay attention to their prayer points, (I have to because of the very loud speakers they disturb people in their houses with) I hear them raining down fire on enemies, be they enemies from their ancestors(laughable), parents, home, neighbours, colleagues, friends etc.


(The fire of the Holy Spirit is not for killing people o o o !)Hmm


Is it that we do not have enemies from humans, NO, from the origin of things Cain who was a brother to Abel made himself an enemy to the extent of killing his brother because of envy. We see that again and again.


The devil and all other evil powers are also enemies.


However, all these are not your first battle!


The first battle is yourself!


Now, back to the fire of the Holy Spirit.


Listen:


Matthew 3:11

“I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.


John the Baptist revealed that he baptised by water but Christ will baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire.


Many have now turned this to a weapon of warfare. Listen your sword is the word of God. If only people will read the scriptures and do less of movies (a man's thought up idea, most times just for entertainment)


See you cannot work with God by emotions or feelings, it goes beyond that!


So your first battle is YOURSELF!


Listen, a lot of people shouting fire, fire, fall down and die etc, ought to be calling it for themselves not for anyone else, WHY? Listen:


John 12:24-25

I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.


John 3:3,5

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.


(To be born you have to die first)


Acts 2:1-4

On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place.

Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.

Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.

And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.


What really needs to "fall down and die" is all those terrible characters we still hold on to. The Holy Ghost fire ought to burn us up to remove all those terrible nature we still carry:


* Laziness;

* Excuses/procrastination;

* Complaining(s);

* Selfishness;

* Envy;

* Entitlements (seeking to grab or own what you did not work for or invest in)

* Tribalism;

* Lies, lying;

* Hate;

* Backstabbing;

* Fraud;

* Immorality;

* Indecency;

* Self righteousness


etc, the list is endless


Galatians 5:19-23

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,

idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!


Instead of spending time with the Heavenly Father in prayer for yourself to become that better person, receiving power from the Spirit to display God's nature which follows with great intellect to do exploits in the world, we spend hours chasing demons, fighting unreal and unnecessary battles. It is a deceit.


If you rained fire today, is it the same people you are raining fire on the next day or a different enemy, if you truly killed them yesterday who are you killing today. Common, it is simple wisdom.


Spend that time on yourself, you need it. Dwell in the place of prayer let God's Spirit consume you so much that nothing will remain that is anti-God. When Moses left God's presence He came out with a glow, He didn't go there to fight demons He went there to commune with God, tell me the demon that will come to stand before Him with God's glory all around him. Be wise!


Now listen Joseph was sold out by his blood brother as a boy, he didn't spend the years raining fire on his supposed enemies (his brothers) Nah, he spend time with the Lord receiving gifts of dream interpretation, wisdom for business etc. Daniel was captured  by the Babylonians he didn't spend time raining fire on them, he spend time praying to the Father and received wisdom knowledge to excel in his career.


WAKE UP!


How many abandoned projects do you have? It is not anyone but yourself stopping you, you don't have to get it the first time. You really need to be delivered from laziness and procrastination - fight the right battles!


Fight the right battle.


The first battle is yourself.


Win this, then you win all.


May the Lord give us more understanding.


He calls us blessed.

DO UNTO OTHERS . . .

Matthew 7:12 "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. It is hypocritical of us to expect people to stand with us when we are experiencing challenges yet when we see others face their own challenges, we begin to imagine what they must have done wrong or maybe they annoyed God or did one evil or the other instead of reaching out to help as we would desire others to do for us. The same thing goes for prosperity, when the Lord opens a door for us and we have abundance of wealth or a breakthrough we expect others to rejoice with us, more so, some would even find it hard to give to others. What is our reaction when someone else gets this breakthrough, do we get suddenly suspicious without reason. Do we expect the person to reach out to us? MY YEAR OF FULFILMENT

Psalms 57:2 I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. We just finished the book of 1Samuel, in this book we see the cry of Israel for a king and how God raised Saul to rule them. We also saw how Saul disobeyed God and lost kingship for himself and his generation. He did not stop there, he went on to seek for the death of David, whom he saw as the next heir of the throne. In chapter 31, the last chapter, we see how Saul and all his sons and men were killed, it was tragic, however it was as a sign of relief for David. We could go on counting all the struggles and difficulties we faced in the past year. No, we should not, we should begin to look at all the positives, remembering all the good things God has done for us. If He promised it, He will do it and that is what we hold onto as we go through this year.
