USEFUL HANDS

John 12:26

"If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

I love this song by casting crowns: "make room".

The chorus says:

"Is there room in your heart?
Is there room in your heart?
Is there room in your heart
For God to write His story?"

When we talk of serving the Lord, the first thing that comes to mind is a role or duty in church. The choir, the church cleaner, the church pastor etc.

Truly one begins service at home. There is no way you forget home, no matter how much work you do outside you still have to return home to your family and be of use. So every believer must have his or her role in church.  Being a part of that family. (The church is not a building or a mere organization, the church is the body of Christ). Your local assembly is just a subset.

So our home is "the church" we are sent out to the world to work and profit, "that there might be food in my house" and that Christ must be proclaimed in all places.

Malachi 3:10
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

This was the essence of tithes and offerings in the first place although many a clergy and laity have gotten it wrong and turned it into a money making machine, a curse or a ponzi scheme. Some have with a curse turned it to a personal business, beware!

So, the believer is not just a church worker but a secular worker, gainfully employed or in business to profit. Wherever we are, the Lord should be assured that His light is represented in that place.

Can God be assured that He is well represented in that place where we are?

When God writes the story of your season/generation will you be a good part of that story. What will you be recorded for?

If God needs to send a message or reach out to someone, are we a ready tool He can use?

2Timothy 2:21
Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.

Let us remember that the power of the enemy is the power of deceit. That we may not know what we are, and what relevance we are to God in this world. He has made many doubt the very God of creation and argue His salvation of man through His Son Jesus the Christ, don't be trapped in that unbelief that You do not loose the salvation. Help us Good Lord.

Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for [there is] no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Colossians 3:23
And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men

Let us not be carried away, being a believer in the work place doesn't make us noise makers or a nuisance to others, no, but we become a succor a sweet smelling savour, a solution. Joseph gives us a perfect example of this.

Look at the story of Joseph:

Genesis 39:3
And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand.

Do you have the good story or you are just a noise maker?

Listen to Jesus:

Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Does your work glorify God or you just talk about God?

May our light shine wherever we are, may we carry a good testimony and may we not disappoint God.

May we be the good part of God's story of our generation.

The last part of the song says:

"Is there room in your heart?
Is there room in your heart?
Is there room in your heart
For God to write His story?

You can come as you are
But it may set you apart
When you make room in your heart
And trade your dreams for His glory
Make room in your heart
Make room in your heart

Make room in your heart
Make room in your heart"

Finally:

There is no way you will glorify God that He will not bless you abundantly.

He calls us blessed.
