IS THE LORD SILENT?

Habakkuk 1:2-4

How long, O  Lord, must I call for help? 

But you do not listen! 

“Violence is everywhere!” I cry, but you do not come to save.

Must I forever see these evil deeds? 

Why must I watch all this misery? 

Wherever I look, 

I see destruction and violence. 

I am surrounded by people who love to argue and fight.

The law has become paralyzed, and there is no justice in the courts. 

The wicked far outnumber the righteous, so that justice has become perverted.

Is God silent? NO, He has spoken and He keeps speak again. How many are in His frequency?

These times come again and again, when evil seems to arise and have a stronger hold. Killings, deceit, extortions, corruptions, oppressions, racisms, tribalism etc.

These wrongs have even infiltrated the world church system (for there is the Lord's true church and it is under no man's authority).

Habakkuk in our verses today, as a prophet, cried out to the Lord for his people Israel, however he had limited understanding.

Listen,

When the people of Israel kept doing wrong, the Lord gave them a long rope to turn back, they refused they kept doing all the wrong things.

The same way the nations keep doing all the wrong things because the feel they are rich, they have arrived, income is flowing in, so they can forget God and do whatever they want.

However,

Habakkuk 1:5

The Lord replied, 

“Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! 

For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.

When the Lord shows His hand they become perplexed, all the wise men, theologians, scientist, philosophers are lost, they cannot explain it, they wonder about it.

We must understand that the fact that God allowed man to have a free hand in things is not because He has no power to control all but man was created to inhabit the earth, it was disobedience that led to the enemy and sin to abound.

Genesis 3:13

Then the Lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?”“The serpent deceived me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.”

The deceit has not stopped, that which makes man feel they can do without the Heavenly Father that to live rightly does not pay. 

Many take God's place to turn things to their personal gain, however there is always an end.

Look at the evil men who rule and want to rule after they have done so much evil, stolen common wealth, killed and done so many terrible things, the word of God to Habakkuk applies to them:

Habakkuk 2:8-13

Because you have plundered many nations, now all the survivors will plunder you. 

You committed murder throughout the countryside and filled the towns with violence.

“What sorrow awaits you who build big houses with money gained dishonestly! 

You believe your wealth will buy security, putting your family’s nest beyond the reach of danger.

But by the murders you committed, you have shamed your name and forfeited your lives.

The very stones in the walls cry out against you, and the beams in the ceilings echo the complaint.

“What sorrow awaits you who build cities with money gained through murder and corruption!

Has not the Lord of Heaven’s Armies promised that the wealth of nations will turn to ashes? 

They work so hard, but all in vain!

The Lord is not silent, He will arise to rescue His people, just that the people should not fall for the wicked ways displayed to them, they should put their trust in the Lord, speak and live the truth,  remaining faithful.

See, as a believer in your personal space the Lord will show up for you even while the captivity period lasts. Ask Joseph and Daniel!

The end of it all is when the Lord will cleanse the earth finally of evil - a new heaven and a new earth will come to place by God's own mighty power and wisdom.

2 Peter 3:9,12-14

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames.

But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.

And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.

For:

Psalms 90:4

For you, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours.

2 Peter 3:8

But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.

In Christ Jesus, God will fulfill all these things, make sure you are on the right side.

So live for your season, don't let anyone deceive you in saying that you will not give account,  EVERYONE WILL!

When the Lord speaks, may we be found on the righteous side.

So help us Good Lord.
