WORKS FOR OUR GOOD
Romans 5:3-4
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.
And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
The beauty of knowing the Lord is seen in the victory that we have in Him, for He makes all things work for our good. He said long ago through the prophet Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
He is the Sovereign Lord, thus no one can counter what He wants to do. Therefore anything that is done cannot stop His intentions but can only make it come to pass.
When Joseph's brothers tried to frustrate his vision by killing him, they actually worked to bring it to pass:
Genesis 37:5,8
One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever.
His brothers responded, “So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them.
Genesis 50:18-20
Then his brothers came and threw themselves down before Joseph. “Look, we are your slaves!” they said.
But Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you?
You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
The intention of the enemy is for evil, however the intention of the Heavenly Father is for good. It is wisdom to concentrate on the intention of the Heavenly Father. Joseph did, that is why he didn't fall into all that traps of the enemy, instead they were training grounds for him.
Read Romans 5:3-4 again.
See what Christ suffered; to the enemy it was a punishment to destroy Him (see Christ's parable in Matthew 22:33-41), however to the Heavenly Father it was a perfect plan to save all mankind.
1 Corinthians 2:8
But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.
So understand this verse afresh today:
Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
It could be a difficulty, but as our opening verse says, it will build in us strength and character also our confident hope in the Lord.
Don't deny your children this. Many have worked to prevent their children from all the growth process, in ignorance they have denied them the privilege to build, endurance, strength and character.
No wonder the wise man said in scriptures:
Proverbs 29:15
To discipline a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child.
As God's children He does not train us to be weak, fearful or lacking in character, NO, He trains us to be strong, in mind and character, also to be bold through faith. Thus, we should train our children in the same way.
Remember what the Lord purposes is what is best for us, He always makes it work for our good.
It is a win-win situation for the believer.
Glory to God in the highest.
He calls us blessed.
Love
