TIME OUT - WITH CARE

Mark 6:30-31

The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught.

Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.

Rest is indeed needed after

* a stressful day or week,

* a series of challenges

*  a glorious time in His presence

* days and weeks of fasting, or

* after a spiritual battle.

Of course the list continues.

Matthew 4:2

And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

The body may begin to look for an outing, a time to unwind, or to breathe a bit, away from all the toil.

It is at this time that some may fall into temptation. Depending on the level of christian maturity, one may desire to try out something new. Rest cannot be ignored, yet we need to be cautious.

If one falls, then conscience takes its toll. The enemy begins to speak condemnation.

In military they say "watch out for the last man" when it seems the whole battalion has passed by, an attempt to come out of the safe zone could attract the last man trailing behind, then he brings down the whole battalion.

Romans 8:37

 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us

It is certain He has given us victory, however we must not play into the enemy's hands. We must rest but not carelessly.

1 Peter 5:8

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

We must rest but we must never allow a duress.

Romans 15:13

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let us therefore excite ourselves in the Holy Spirit! No matter how much the flesh unwinds, our spirit must unwind in the Lord's Spirit.

So help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
