DON'T FORGET WHO YOU ACCOUNT TO!
Hebrews 4:13
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
There is a clear distinction between good and evil, however because of culture, traditions, human sentiments, society and community opinions, human laws etc., we could muddle up things.
For even in the times of the reign of the Jews, Mosaic laws were muddled up with the Jewish traditions:
Mark 7:7-9
Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’
For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition.”
Then he said, “You skillfully sidestep God’s law in order to hold on to your own tradition.
Christ actually gave examples after making the above statement:
Mark 7:10-13
For instance, Moses gave you this law from God: ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.’
But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’
In this way, you let them disregard their needy parents.
And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others.”
Many preachers flout this very example when the teach about giving, be it tithes, first fruit, or whatever it is named!
You are yet to be saved if you are not saved. I keep emphasizing that you are not set free by Christ to be put in bondage by another, NO!
You are accountable to God!
For when we account to our leaders, secular or spiritual, it is actually God we are accountable to, for no matter what title you have given that leader, they are also accountable to God. That is why every good leader will ask their followers, colleagues or brethren to PRAY FOR US!
2 Corinthians 1:11a
And you are helping us by praying for us.
Philippians 1:19
For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.
Colossians 4:3
Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains.
You do good to pray for your leaders
1 Timothy 2:1-2
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
For that leader could make your walk with God difficult if they are misguided.
We do really need our human leaders, secular or spiritual, but never forget who you really account to.
See, Joseph as a little boy knew who his boss was. He knew it wasn't Potiphar:
Genesis 39:1,3,8-9
When Joseph was taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelite traders, he was purchased by Potiphar, an Egyptian officer. Potiphar was captain of the guard for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.
Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did.
But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household.
No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”
Yes, he was serving Potiphar at that time but he knew that his real boss was God.
Imagine how Potiphar related to him when:
Genesis 41:38-41,43-44
So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?”
Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are.
You will be in charge of my court, and all my people will take orders from you. Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.”
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.”
Then he had Joseph ride in the chariot reserved for his second-in-command. And wherever Joseph went, the command was shouted, “Kneel down!” So Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all Egypt.
And Pharaoh said to him, “I am Pharaoh, but no one will lift a hand or foot in the entire land of Egypt without your approval.”
*When you understand who your real boss is, you will not lose your promotion!!!*
Psalm 75:6-7
For promotion [cometh] neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God [is] the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
You must understand who you really account to, it will help you relate well even when that supposed boss, leader or team head is misbehaving. You and "they" will all give account.
The most important account is when we leave this phase, when the books are opened. Never for one moment think that human appraisal is enough, that your praises are sung here on earth does not mean that the heavens recognizes you.
Daniel 5:24,27
So God has sent this hand to write this message.
Tekel means ‘weighed’—you have been weighed on the balances and have not measured up.
Lord, may we be accountable to You in all things, help our weaknesses, convert them to strength for Your glory.
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
