WHEN FAITH COMES IN
John 4:49-51
The official pleaded, “Lord, please come now before my little boy dies.”
Then Jesus told him, “Go back home. Your son will live!” And the man believed what Jesus said and started home.
While the man was on his way, some of his servants met him with the news that his son was alive and well.
When we pray concerning a matter, the Lord's response comes with an instruction. The instruction could be as simple as ". . .Go home your son is healed . . .", as we see with the official in our opening text. As he obeyed his miracle took place:
John 4:51-53
While the man was on his way, some of his servants met him with the news that his son was alive and well.
He asked them when the boy had begun to get better, and they replied, “Yesterday afternoon at one o’clock his fever suddenly disappeared!”
Then the father realized that that was the very time Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” And he and his entire household believed in Jesus.
The difficult part of prayer is the listening part, I have always believed prayers to be a dialogue not a monologue. In time past when people prayed if they didn't receive a vision or a revelation through dreams, a prophet is sent to them or both.
Today it is even more easier for God's Spirit dwells in us, so we ought to have direct access to the Heavenly Father's frequency, however so many things could be an obstacle.
But rest assured that no prayers is left unanswered of the believer, it is either you cannot hear the instructions, do not like the answer or have no faith (which also has to do with responding to the instruction).
We as believers must let faith come in.
Temptation succeeds against us because of lack of faith, all those we have as great examples of "obedience to God" were people who acted on faith, from Abraham to Jacob, to Joseph and even Daniel, their response to instructions defined their faith.
That is why the writer of Hebrews wrote:
Hebrews 11:6a
And it is impossible to please God without faith.
For faith is active, it is not just a state.
Just like Eve and Adam in the garden, their action of disobedience was an action of faithlessness. Thus the same way our actions prove our faith, our actions can also prove our unbelief.
Romans 14:23b (KJV)
for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin.
Dear Lord, may I always act on faith and not unbelief. My desire is that all that I am, all that I think and all that I do pleases You.
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
