THE SPIRITUAL HUNGER

John 4:31-32,34

Meanwhile, the disciples were urging Jesus, “Rabbi, eat something.”

But Jesus replied, “I have a kind of food you know nothing about.”

Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.

The same way our body craves for food when we have been out of food for a while, this should be the same way our Spirit craves to do the Master's work while we are here on earth.

For if we are of God we must also be about His business, and His business is about doing good.

Acts 10:38

And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Every believer has a part to play in the whole kingdom business, thus they are careful not to be entangled in the things of the world that will take them away from their purpose and ministry.

The good one craves to do good while the evil one craves to do wrong:

Proverbs 4:14,16-17

Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers.

For evil people can’t sleep until they’ve done their evil deed for the day. They can’t rest until they’ve caused someone to stumble.

They eat the food of wickedness and drink the wine of violence!

This is in contrast with the Godly people, our crave is to do good, we long for the heart of men as God does to bring those in darkness to light.

Many are in bondage, some hold on to lies, some lies are so evil that they are cajoled to take the life of another in the name of religion. Some have made money their God, they can do anything and betray anyone to get more of it. Some are in bondage of lust, they take and take but they never get satisfied. The list of these vices is a lot.

Listen, when their is a void in your heart, when You do not allow Christ to dwell in you by His Spirit, the Spirit of the Heavenly Father, you create a restlessness that craves for evil or a calm that remains docile and is trapped in spiritual inactiveness. This is what prompted Christ to say:

Revelation 3:16

But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!

The child of God, hungers and thirsts for righteousness:

Mathew 5:6

Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Read Matthew 5:3-12.

So what do you crave for?

You know that you have to teach your body what it eats for you to stay healthy, the same way you have to teach your mind what to eat to stay spiritually healthy.

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
