HAVE YOU FOLLOWED HIM?
John 1:38-39
Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
“Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.
From childhood many have heard about the Lord Jesus, the things He did, His person as the Father and His work as the redeemer. How many have really followed Him?
Let me quickly say this which I have said before. When you talk of man (human being) you are just one out of trillions. Many have come before you, many are here now with you and many may come after you. So the question is, what makes you special?
Listen, when God created man at the beginning, it was like one man, one person but in him was all people, so when He said " . . . multiply and fill the earth . . .", it was still one man, - wait let me explain.
One man sinned, it became the sin of all, so everyone who came out of Adam sinned. Do you get it?
So as long as you follow the lineage of Adam, you remained in sin.
Romans 3:23
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
You must get out of that lineage for you to be free, this is what God started doing through Noah, then through Abraham, then Israel. However it could not be accomplished through man, man cannot save man.
SO HE CAME HIMSELF!
John 1:29,36
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”
Do you get it, a new Adam had to be, and that new was God becoming man that He will be legally right to save man.
John 1:1-4,14,29,36
In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God.
God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.
The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”
Many in some religion will argue, how can God have a son, who was His wife etc.
It is laughable, because we try to see God as mortal like you and me. What we do not know is that when God made man, he made them male and female, there was no female version, it was for companionship that God brought woman out of a man(Gen. 1:27, Gen. 2:22-25 - if you get it, then good for you "smiles")
So definitely Christ was with God at the beginning, He was not created but begotten that He could be man and thus save man.
John was physically born on this earth before Jesus the Christ was (Luke 1:26-38, John the Baptist was 6months older than Jesus) but John the Baptist said:
John 1:30
He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’
He existed before me!
Now we could go on and on about the person of Jesus and His oneness with the Father.
You could spend your whole life trying to prove or disprove it, but what it is, is what it is.
When will you follow Him?
Most of the Pharisees and Sadduccess where physically with Him when He was revealed on earth, the spent their time arguing, plotting against Him, a very rare number followed Him. Many of the ordinary people received miracles from Him, ate freely from Him, how many eventually followed Him. Some heard about Him from far and wide, but how many were like Cornelius and the Ethiopian eunuch who really followed Him.
Today some are in churches, mosques, monasteries, convents, cults, groups and other forms of religions, they have heard of Him, whether in partial truths or lies but have they followed Him.
What is keeping you from following Him?
Read Mark 10:17-22.
Mark 10:17,21-22
As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. “There is still one thing you haven’t done,” he told him. “Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
At this the man’s face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.
Are you following?
I am not asking if you are following a religion, a human(no matter their title), a prophet, a sect whatever it is.
Until you know and follow Christ, you are yet to begin.
John 1:12,18
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.
When will you follow?
Listen, those wasted time(s) without Him is a loss for you in eternity. The enemy will keep you away from Him so that you will not have a reward later, the more he keeps you away from Him they lesser the period of glory you can achieve here on earth, for as I always say, your glory in the kingdom is a measure of your work here on earth.
Follow Him!
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
