DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE?

John 1:22-23

“Then who are you? We need an answer for those who sent us. What do you have to say about yourself?”

John replied in the words of the prophet Isaiah:

“I am a voice shouting in the wilderness,

‘Clear the way for the Lord’s coming!’”

Who are you? An important question we all may have asked ourselves at one time or the other. The question is so important because it will explain what we have been doing, what we are are doing and what we are going to do.

I always teach that the best gift a parent, guardian, leader or mentor can give to those under their care is to help them discover their calling and gifts, it is the greatest turn around of their lives. There is nothing like knowing what you are doing.

Jeremiah 1:5

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.

Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

John 18:37b

Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth.

The moment a man becomes born again, their purpose goes beyond earthly accomplishments they fit into the will of the kingdom, why, because they become family.

For the fact that one has not been connected to the Lord does not mean that they yet do not have a purpose, they do, but it can't go beyond this present life. Listen, every human was created by default to affect the world positively. It was a general command and blessing on man.

Now at what condition this is fulfilled is another thing. Listen again:

Genesis 11:1-6

At one time all the people of the world spoke the same language and used the same words.

As the people migrated to the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there.

They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.)

Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.”

But the Lord came down to look at the city and the tower the people were building.

“Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them!

Can you see, this people focused on a great purpose and of course they were achieving it, however the Lord was not in it. The Lord had to step in to stop them because the whole of humanity after the flood seemed to have no direction, so they were defiling the instruction at the beginning, which was to fill the earth. (You could be fulfilling a great purpose that could yet be meaningless because it defeats the default purpose. Selah)

So the fact that this person or that person who does not know the Lord is achieving this or that, does not matter. If you do the things you ought to do, you are limitless to what you can achieve, it is default. However, how is the purpose connected to eternity, how does it fit into God's purpose, that is the question the one who has been brought into God's family asks?

So do you know who you are?

Before you came to Christ you actually discovered who you were, this is why you saw that you needed the Lord. Many who are yet to believe may feel they are okay with what or who they are now, however:

Revelation 1:7-8

Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven.

And everyone will see him— even those who pierced him.

And all the nations of the world will mourn for him.

Yes! Amen!

“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”

Then all we know that:

John 1:12

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Then:

Matthew 10:32-33

“Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.

But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.

So do you know who you are? Do you know who you are in Christ Jesus? Are you aligned in purpose?

The Lord open our eyes to see, to  act and to become.

See, you could be much relevant in the world yet have no place in the divine purpose, however there is no way you will be relevant in divine purpose without being relevant in the world. Selah

Glory to God forevermore.

He calls us blessed.
