ARE YOU WAITING

ARE YOU WAITING?

John 1:43,45,47,49

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Come, follow me.”

Philip went to look for Nathanael and told him, “We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.”

As they approached, Jesus said, “Now here is a genuine son of Israel—a man of complete integrity.”

Then Nathanael exclaimed, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God—the King of Israel!”

Yesterday we asked a question, "Are you ready?", today we ask another question, "Are you waiting?"

For when you look at the first disciples of Christ, you observe something in particular (reading through John 1:35-51). These men had been discussing about the Messiah, they had been searching or waiting for Him.

John 1:45

Philip went to look for Nathanael and told him, “We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.”

Truly the Messiah's coming was recorded at different times in the scriptures, actually the whole of scriptures was about the Messiah, however many were not conscious of it, they were not expectant and even those who understood the prophesy did not expect it.

However from the first two disciples of John the Baptist who followed Christ when he proclaimed Him, we see that they followed John because of the expectation. Thus they were well positioned to know when the Messiah would be revealed.

So we ask today, "Are you waiting?" Are we in the consciousness of the return of the Master, are we conscious of the signs and the seasons to know what the Lord wants us to do from time to time.

Jesus said that for that day and hour only the Heavenly Father knows, that we are expected to always be ready.

The question is what are we supposed to be doing while waiting? Fold our hands and wait, or just be busy with spiritual activities etc.

Listen:

Luke 12:40-43

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”

Peter asked, “Lord, is that illustration just for us or for everyone?”

And the Lord replied, “A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them.

If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward.

We must be found fulfilling our purpose, on our assignment. That is the true definition of waiting!

As we continue to fellowship with the Lord, even in the presence of the brethren may we always be in the consciousness of the Lord, attentive by His Spirit, we will not be caught unawares, we will be waiting, walking in obedience. We win here on earth and even through eternity.

Glory to God forevermore.

He calls us blessed.
