ARE YOU READY?
John 1:40-41
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus.
Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”).
Every timeline from the time of creation, had an event, it is called times and seasons. Each of these times come with special events. The God factor is what always makes it significant.
From scriptures, these events anchored around Israel - the Jews, while others fell into another category. The reason being God's salvation plan was to come through them:
John 4:22
You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews.
It was not as if other tribes in the world were not relevant, but that Israel had the access as the chosen nation.
Did they make good use of it? . . .
So the season in our text was the season of the revelation of Christ, His ministry on earth was to begin
The announcer was John the Baptist.
John the Baptist had followers, disciples who heard and believed.
John the Baptist was clear:
John 1:20,23
He came right out and said, “I am not the Messiah.”
John replied in the words of the prophet Isaiah:
“I am a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Clear the way for the lord’s coming!’”
There were two who did not just follow but listened.
So when John the Baptist finally announced Him, they knew the next move - they followed:
John 1:36-37
As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”
When John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus.
These two disciples must be wise, they didn't stop there they started the evangelism, starting from their family:
John 1:40-41
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus.
Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”).
He did not just bring a brother, but the one who was to be declared leader among others.
John 1:42
Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, “Your name is Simon, son of John—but you will be called Cephas” (which means “Peter”).
Notice something, these people were actually looking out for the Messiah!
Can we learn something from them? What season are we now? What is the message of this season? How do we fit in?
All that excelled and were recorded in scriptures were those who understood their season and made the right moves.
After Christ had finished the work and had finally ascended, the next season was the release of the Holy Spirit. How many were ready - waiting?
Acts 2:1-4
On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place.
Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.
Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.
And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
What is the season now? Are you waiting, are you ready?
Or, have you been distracted, are you carried away with the world. Listen, the world itself is so unsteady that we cannot afford to even sit down complacently.
We have come to understand that even in our secular world, those who have favour (luck) are those who . . . "opportunity meets them prepared"
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
