WHEN A BELIEVER REPENTS

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Isaiah 52:2

Shake thyself from the dust; arise, [and] sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

2 Corinthians 7:10

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

The believer does not live a carefree life, instead the believer lives a worry-free life. There is always the need to stay in line, improve and increase in the knowledge of our Maker. One of the most important way to do this is by constant meditation on the word.

One powerful thing about the word of God is that it sets us straight, helps us see from God's perspective. That is why the Psalm quoted the word as light and salvation:

Psalm 27:1a

The LORD [is] my light and my salvation;

So when we talk of the believers' repentance, we talk of growth, the believers maturity, for we only know in part, but as we go He reveals more and more to us. Halleluyah

Paul wrote to the Corinthians a letter of rebuke that showed some, where they erred, yes it made some of them feel bad, yet they where expected to get over it and move forward.

2 Corinthians 7:10 (NLT)

For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

Worldly sorrows brings about no good. It is unprofitable for the believer.

Godly sorrow that leads to repentance is not condemnation but a correction to set us on the right part, to make us better and take us a step into maturity.

Thus Paul's counsel:

Hebrews 10:24-25

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Though some gatherings have turned to something else, hero/human/idol worship, jamborees, village meetings, comedy shows, business meetings, magic or stunts display, or mere discussion on demons and powers of darkness.

These leaders who have fallen prey of this evil have judgement to face while the gullible who ride along will understand what Hosea 4:6 means.

See everyone must give account!

However, there is room for repentance.

Psalms 119:156

Lord, how great is your mercy; let me be revived by following your regulations.

I picture myself as Saul, rejected, why not leave the throne to him who God has chosen, then humble yourself to a lower position and seek God again. That you failed yesterday does not mean you should fail today.

Some would say, "we are saved what do we need to repent of". . . well when Christ wrote to the seven churches (body of believers), He asked them to REPENT!

Revelation 3:3

Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don’t wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief.

Where have we erred, have we believed false doctrines, have we called on the name of the Lord and yet not departed from iniquity, have we lived to hurt others, have we set God aside, have we served mammon, have we broken our marriage vows, have we led people astray? Whatever it is, Repentance has come, Mercy has come, God has come.

See the fact that millions are also on the same wagon does not matter, ask Noah and Lot, they will testify to you, that the Lord deals with remnant.

Remember that it was only one man God made, He then asked Him to multiply. See, you are just one out of innumerables that have lived, are living and will still live, DON'T BE PROUD!

God is so loving, when we return, tears are wiped away, joy comes to stay, righteousness is revealed. Glory to God.

We find our knees in prayer, our minds in the word, our lips confessing the word and praising God. We let go of pain and go for the gain. Halleluyah.

He calls us blessed.
