LOVE IN GOD'S HAND
1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Love here must not be confused with the various emotions people have. For you cannot love in disobedience:
All of God's commandments is summed up in love.
Timothy 1:5
Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
While writing to Timothy, Paul instructed him that the whole essence of the instruction was Love.
All begins and will end in love. You do what you do actually because of love.
So "I love you" most people say is mere words or temporary emotional feeling.
LOVE IS A DECISION!
Every action we take is a product of our love for one thing or the other. That is why we are instructed:
1John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world.
Of course if you love the world all your actions will be limited to please the world, to be exalted here on earth alone and to conform to its system.
James 4:4
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Be very careful of the emotions you allow to flood your heart. The world is more of a battle than a place of rest. Selah
The bible says where your heart is, there you put your treasure
Matthew 6:21
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Even foolish love for money have made many pierce themselves with many sorrows:
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU LOVE!
So it is time we checked where our heart lie!
Are we motivated by the Love of God and love for our neighbour?
Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
This is the first and greatest commandment.
A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
This kind of love is what the Greek try to describe as "Agape".
Remember at the end of it all, the question will always be
John 21:15b
do you love Me more than these
That is "What do you love more than the Heavenly Father?". We must get/set out priorities right.
Be careful where you put your heart, the counsel I give to people who are carried away with lust that they confuse as love, is to look further than the present, in years to come what feelings will you have? So many who have rushed for things or people they think they love end up in tears in a near future.
Let your love be in God's hand. His way has always been of love, for that is His nature. Don't let your heart fall in the wrong place.
Remember you only have this life to determine your eternity, don't make a mess of it.
I see us living a life flooded with the Love of God. It will not be a function of what people do but rather it will be because of who we are in Christ Jesus.
Lord release Your wisdom on us that we will love your kind of love and never fall into the trap of the enemy.
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
