DON'T GIVE IN

Proverbs 10:2-3

Tainted wealth has no lasting value, but right living can save your life.

The Lord will not let the godly go hungry, but he refuses to satisfy the craving of the wicked.

This is the generation of wealth creation, almost all media has a large chunk of wealth creation seminars, shows, adverts and schemes. The hype is overwhelming, the sources are limitless and the push is provocative.

Is the church left out? NO! It is even one of the most thriving hype centres. I used to worry about what the worshipper leaves the gathering with. A desire to know God more, to reach out to others who are yet to be saved and the desire to be good examples. Is that the case, or do they leave the gathering thinking of how to build generational wealth or how to make their first million?

Does this imply that I am saying that building wealth for the believer is bad? NO. It is not the wealth that is the problem, it is the heart that is the issue.

Jesus gave a parable about a rich fool after a man asked Him to tell his brother to share their father's estate with him:

Luke 12:14-19

Jesus replied, “Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?”

Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops.

He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’

Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods.

And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’

Now, what is wrong with that?

Was the problem that he had a bountiful harvest, or that his business boomed that year, or that he had a fat raise in his pay?

Definitely the Lord has not asked us to be poor. Remember:

Proverbs 10:22

The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

Here lies the problem:

Luke 12:20-21

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’

“Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

. . . A person is foolish to store up earthly wealth but do not have a rich relationship with God!

Do you get the point?

Psalms 14:1

Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.”

They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!

A parable is what it is, "a parable", it doesn't have to be a real event, however it is used to illustrate a teaching, to actually make it clear for the wise to understand.

Thus, what is the essence of riches if your eternity is not insured?

Jesus asked the question:

Mark 8:36-37

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Don't give in to the pressure to build wealth at the expense of your soul, read Proverbs 10:2-3, again.

How can brethren do the prayers, worship and bible reading then go ahead to defraud another? It is because of errenous teachings, the fake prosperity gospel. (There is the real prosperity gospel.)

Don't give in when you are pressured into building generational wealth, hello, what of your own life? Are you just a sacrificial lamb for others to enjoy later?

Remember your eternal blessings are not of what you left behind, but of what you invested. Listen to Jesus:

Luke 12:15

Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

So dear one don't give in to the pressure, move at your pace, watch and be prudent. Wealth is yours, it is actually promised, however your soul is more important, don't trade it for wealth.

Wisdom is needed here.

How is your ministry? Are you a good example? What of your family? Are you giving spiritual guidance, are your children being brought up in the way of the Lord?

The Lord open our eyes and cause us to be spiritually productive and financially intelligent. We will make good use of opportunities yet we will not err.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
