ANGELS ON ASSIGNMENT

Psalms 91:11-12

For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.

They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.

The Lord sent out Angels to carry out assignments in times of old, we see the examples from the time of Abraham till the birth of Christ when messages were brought to Zacharias, Joseph and Mary. It did not stop there for we see Angels on assignment when the disciples of Christ faced challenges, for instance:

Acts of the Apostles 12:6-9

The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate.

Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists.

Then the angel told him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” And he did. “Now put on your coat and follow me,” the angel ordered.

So Peter left the cell, following the angel. But all the time he thought it was a vision. He didn’t realize it was actually happening.

We also see Angels with messages to devout men:

Acts 10:2-3,22

He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.

One afternoon about three o’clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. “Cornelius!” the angel said.

They said, “We were sent by Cornelius, a Roman officer. He is a devout and God-fearing man, well respected by all the Jews. A holy angel instructed him to summon you to his house so that he can hear your message.”

So Angels are still on assignment even till this day for they are messengers of God given instructions concerning man.

We will not go into the levels of Angels and Angels given specific assignments, however, we know that Angels are still on assignment up till today. Waring angels do exist who are sent to battle for the Lord, they will also be part of the final battle.

However one thing should be noted, Angels receive their instructions from the Heavenly Father. For even when Christ (who was our example of the renewed man on earth) did not call directly on Angels:

Matthew 26:53

Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?

The same with the apostles, none is recorded trying to contact or have direct contact with Angels or do we see them instructing them.

We indeed need to be careful what we teach and practice because we have Angels at the service of the Heavenly Father, we also have angels at the service of the enemy.

Revelation 12:9

This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

We know that the enemy loves to create a counterfeit for every good thing the Heavenly Father has done, thus we indeed need to be careful, for in bringing in practices and devotions that are unscriptural we are liable to fall into the gullible trap of the enemy.

So it is funny when we hear people pray or worship or mentioning angels, dead saints or any other being, if they don't answer to us then who do you think is being summoned or communicated to?

We must be careful!

1 Timothy 2:5

For,There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.

If Christ himself didn't do it, His apostles and disciples did not practice it, then where did it come from? The answer is obvious!

2Corinthians 11:3-4

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or [if] ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with [him].

You may say that there are so many people practicing this or that, listen:

Revelation 12:9

This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

...deceiving the whole world ...

Yes, Angels are sent on assignment by the Heavenly Father and most times for us. May we not err in this truth.

Hebrews 1:14

Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.

Listen to an Angel:

Revelation 19:9-10

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”

Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.”

He calls us blessed.
