REMEMBER THE LORD YOUR GOD
Ecclesiastes 12:1-7
Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
Remember him before the light of the sun, moon, and stars is dim to your old eyes, and rain clouds continually darken your sky.
Remember him before your legs—the guards of your house—start to tremble; and before your shoulders—the strong men—stoop. Remember him before your teeth—your few remaining servants—stop grinding; and before your eyes—the women looking through the windows—see dimly.
Remember him before the door to life’s opportunities is closed and the sound of work fades. Now you rise at the first chirping of the birds, but then all their sounds will grow faint.
Remember him before you become fearful of falling and worry about danger in the streets; before your hair turns white like an almond tree in bloom, and you drag along without energy like a dying grasshopper, and the caperberry no longer inspires sexual desire. Remember him before you near the grave, your everlasting home, when the mourners will weep at your funeral.
Yes, remember your Creator now while you are young, before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken. Don’t wait until the water jar is smashed at the spring and the pulley is broken at the well.
For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.
When the young hear these words of wisdom they are to sit up and take action. When the old hears this, they are to wake up their children and mentes. There is an action for everyone.
Let us take the year as an example, we are counting down about ten days to end the year, how much of the goals we set out to achieve this year is completed? Definitely starting now is not wisdom, the starting point would have been at the beginning of the year.
So it is at that vibrant younger age that we:
* memorize, learn and understand scriptures?
* are able to get a good hold on prayer and fasting?
* can move from place to place evangelizing the good news
* go on mission trips to deep mission sites to spread the gospel
Truly, there are things that are difficult to accomplish when one is old, truly Solomon knew this.
Look at Christ Jesus as a human on earth, at His young age, He was in the temple:
Luke 2:46-49
Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions.
All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
His parents didn’t know what to think. “Son,” his mother said to him, “why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been frantic, searching for you everywhere.”
“But why did you need to search?” he asked. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
With what places of worship has been turned to today, the way humans have been turned to idols, money is being worshipped, and the focus has shifted from Christ to what does not matter: What is the likelihood of finding children discussing scriptures with our Popes, Archbishops, GOs, Bishops, Elders or even ministers in places of worship?
Listen, almost all the great men of exploits in scriptures, got a grasp of "remembering their creator while they were young":
* How would Joseph had survived after being sold out as a slave to a foreign land while he was so young?
* How would David have conquered Goliath at very young age?
* Daniel a little boy brought to a strange land was able to stand by the word
. . . we can talk of Jacob, Samuel, Moses and other great people, they remembered the Lord from their youth.
Same with Timothy and other great ministers in the new testament.
Young ones, how much of the Lord do you know, are you drawing closer to Him daily?
Our daddies and mummies, how much exposure are you given your children and wards to the Lord. For if we don't do this, we should remember that there are a lot of religions out there, many of them have been refined by learned people packaging them as the truth.
Religion, is man-made, salvation is God-made!
Listen, walking with the Lord does NOT restrict you from growing up, studying, gathering skills and even making money. NO!
It is in all these activities that we show forth the praises of Him who brought us out of darkness to His marvelous light.
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
Listen, you canNot remember the Lord your God and fail in your academics, NO!
Daniel 1:17,20
God gave these four young men an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom. And God gave Daniel the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams.
Whenever the king consulted them in any matter requiring wisdom and balanced judgment, he found them ten times more capable than any of the magicians and enchanters in his entire kingdom.
Neither will you remember the Lord your God and you will be struggling in business. NO
Instead, remembering the Lord your God will make you outshine your peers. It will put you forward at work and in your business.
Hello, you will be operating in a higher form of wisdom and revelation.
Psalms 75:6-7
For no one on earth—from east or west, or even from the wilderness— should raise a defiant fist.
It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.
It is a win-win situation for the one who walks with the Lord, plus persecution.
So, where are you now?
Use your youth now, for you become older with each passing day.
Remember the Lord today.
He calls us blessed.
Love
